Hi...Ree, I have been visiting Cambodia every year. Every where is safe in Cambodia. I have been to many cities and provinces and the people love me. Like I said every where is safe. It is the person that make him/herself not safe. My best advice to you when visiting Cambodia is, leave all jewelry at home, do not talk any kinds of poltice, respect the local people and do not look down on them, respect the Khmer culture, do not cary expensive purses, do not try to show off you are from USA. Trust me, they will know who you are and where you are coming from. And last, be yourself and try to fit in with the local people. Speak you Khmer language, it is fun! To Bong General: I give you and your wife a credit for spending your own sweat money to the soldiers and old and young people along the way back from Phnom Kulen. I saw a video that Tea Vichet whose is a famous son of Tea Vinh (Cambodia Navy Admiral) go around Cambodia helping people out. But, I won't give him any credit even he does a good deed. May be a small credit. He doesn't earn money from his hard working, but thru corruption. You earned your money by retiring from a US army and served the United States Arm Force. That is your retirement money and you have two sons who currently serve the US arm force, I guessed. Be safe!
Instead of human guard rail try MBGR (metal beam guardrail). Charity are always accepted and never enough for the regular khmers! Keep up the charity, one day they might not needed it anymore! Common khmer are beyond poor. I wonder what happened to all the beggars in Phnom Penh.
