    _______
    South African podcaster & host of
    (the biggest podcast in Africa) Podcast&Chill, MacG, recently took shots at rapper A-Reece.
    Now in a recent episode of Podcast&Chill, MacG refers to A-Reece as being committed to failure.
    (clip)
    Now most fans seem to agree
    with MacG's statement,
    with a fan adding :
    "Everyone who is a visionary knows Reece is lazy. People who don't complain about his career aren't visionaries. They just like him to be comfortable & lazy. Only improve one thing.
    Reece is an artist. Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest & AKA are brands & brand ambassadors. Reece is just a rapper."
    With the rapper having seemingly responded to MacG's comments,
    with an Instagram Story Post that reads :
    "Damn... Say Less."

      ONLY PROBLEM IS :
      being "known" is less than
      being *globally renowned* .
      (Musa Keys & Tyla, for example, are now
      globally renowned artists.)

    • @LOUDTVnetwork
      @LOUDTVnetwork  7 месяцев назад +2

      He's also "known" for the weed, by the way,
      which has a negative effect on his ability to partner with brands.
      (Hence why his biggest market competitor, Nasty C, secures way more brand deals than him.)

      Yeah, but everyone has different values. He probably doesn't want to act like someone he's not to get this false good image for brand deals, and maybe doesn't value record deals like other artists. He's trying to build his own.

    • @LOUDTVnetwork
      @LOUDTVnetwork  7 месяцев назад +2

      You make a fair point, bro -
      Indeed, people have different values, and building your own business (ie. record label) is always commendable,
      but a 'good image' doesn't need to be false - it just needs to be intentional.

    When did being a rapper matter whether you are an ambassador or not isn’t this about the music 😂😂😂and now just because nasty went to the states they want Reece to do the same… let the man be..he will decide on what is good for him as long as he delivers musically the rest is up to him.

      You make a fair point, bro -
      Supposedly, being an ambassador is *a lucrative path to generating revenue that sustains & elevates your career* as a business - not just as a rapper.
      You're right though,
      the decision is indeed up to him.

    Guys, A-Reece is a rapper. He just makes rap/hip hop music and that's it. He's not here for the gimmicks, the clout, the false pretence. He lets the music talk ALL THE TIME. The fact that he is still mentioned as being part of the premier hip hop artists in the country (maybe even Africa) and is on par with them sales wise despite having an inferior brand and international clout to the Nasty Cs, AKAs🕊️ and Casspers tells you everything you need to know. A-Reece will be fine. Calling the dude "lazy" when he's been consistent with the output for 7 years and dropped more music than the Nastys is a stretch imo.

    • @LOUDTVnetwork
      @LOUDTVnetwork  6 месяцев назад +1

      You make quite a few solid points, bro - thank you for such a thoughtful response.
      You claim that "he's not here for the gimmicks & false pretenses"
      However, *a fake American accent is a gimmick & a false pretense.*
      Additionally, *stealing American culture is also a gimmick & a false pretense* .
      (ie. cultural appropriation)
      We don't perceive that MacG is referring to A-reece's quantity/quality of output when using the term "lazy" -
      He's most likely referencing his supposed disinterest in scaling his brand globally & attracting new mass audiences.

    • @lz.unlimited
      @lz.unlimited 6 месяцев назад

      @@LOUDTVnetwork *Apologies for the Iong reply*
      I think we need to be cognisant of the fact that there are notable differences between "stealing" culture and merely being influenced by it. I think the whole premise of stealing/appropriating culture is to appeal to a desired demographic and generally has nothing to do with you identifying/being influenced by it but purely has to do with your desire only to get gratification/easy profit. The guy has shown his passion for this. He's never really cared about how he's perceived in the industry or by anyone other than his fans. He's never tried to present to ppl that he is NOT South African and that he is African-American instead. That's what I meant by "false pretence/gimmicks". Ppl don't mess with his music bcoz he can put on the American accent well, they do it bcoz he is a good rapper! The substance is evident. Throughout his primary adoption of the American sound & references in his music, he's ALWAYS repped kasi ya gage. It just so happens that he, like pretty much all the rappers y'all celebrate in this country and in fact worldwide, has been deeply influenced by the American sound/references/culture, not just in the music but even in normal casual speech (he still puts on the accent funny enuff😅). Imo, A-Reece does this not necessarily to "pretend" he is from America, he's just consumed so much of that culture throughout his life, a life of which is still depicted in the music, whether you love it or hate it. Idk my dude, that's just my view thou.🤷‍♂

    • @lz.unlimited
      @lz.unlimited 6 месяцев назад

      @@LOUDTVnetwork In terms of scaling his brand as you put it, that will depend on him. But I do not think it's got any bearing on him being a great artist/rapper in his own right. There's nothing about that that depicts failure as MacG is pointing out. Can he do better to build his brand so as to be globally reowned? Perhaps. But that changes nothing in terms of his work, which I think is more pertinent. Again, my view😅🤷‍♂

    • @LOUDTVnetwork
      @LOUDTVnetwork  6 месяцев назад

      @@lz.unlimited Indeed, *scaling his brand globally is strategic decision between him & his management* .
      A followup question may be *"does he need a better manager/management team in order to scale globally?"*
      To which the answer is a resounding 'Yes'.
      *The current growth trajectory of TYLA is the perfect example of what a competent management team can accomplish for a talented artist* .
      We need to be cognizant of the fact that *the entertainment industry is a business* .
      *The "work" (product) is only one component of an artist's machinery* , and is often the least important in today's saturated market.
      *There's also Branding, Marketing, PR, Sales, Finance, Operations, and more levers to consider* , which are drastically more critical to an artist's long-term success & sustainability as a business.

      @@lz.unlimited Nee, bra - now you're just cooking up excuses! 😂
      *LET'S BE BRUTALLY HONEST* -
      Just because you listen to a rapper from New York, doesn't mean you should sound like a rapper from New York.
      Just because you consume American products (eg. Hip-Hop), doesn't mean that those American products will consume your authentic identity.
      For example, *there thousands of kasi gents who've been listening to Tupac religiously for decades, but they've never ever adopted a fake American accent* .
      *ADOPTING A FAKE AMERICAN ACCENT IS CHOICE* -
      It's a choice to misappropriate (steal), misrepresent & profit off a culture that is not authentically yours.
      *THAT'S CALLED BEING A FRAUD.*
