I had the stop start and battery symbol come up on my 1.5 Civic yesterday, today it has gone so now I know why after watching your video. Thanks Brian.
Greetings. I bought IdleStopper v2. (89 USD) in Sept 2023 and installed it in my wife's 2022 Honda Civic Touring. Works fantastic and never have to remind my wife "Did you press/push the Idle-Stop button so it is turned off?". It is now automatically Off and does not void any part of your Honda / Acura warranty. A simple device to install as may take 20 to 40 minutes to install depending on what model Honda/Acura vehicle you have. All it does is turn off Idle-Stop which you could do yourself. It does not affect the vehicle's operational ability or the ECM "Electronic Control Module" aka computer system in any way. This way when at a long traffic light or backed up for a while on the road from traffic congestion your vehicle will not stop idling and keep running. Imagine having the A/C on or the Heat going and the engine stops or maybe the engine fails to restart. The reason for Idle-Stop is government regulation on Emissions or to have less pollution. Idle-stop is annoying and aggravating as most people do not want it.
'20 pilot here. bought the $80 harness and installed so that auto stop is disabled on start-up. i have the option of turning it back on if i want to, but i would NEVER turn it back on. major negative on this vehicle. i got stranded twice in busy traffic with a no restart. i just about got hit by a car when i attempted to exit my vehicle on the first occurrence.
Pretty much every customer doesn’t like the idea of stop start , it’s just a way for the manufacturers to reduce their overall emissions output on paper!
Great video. The auto idle stop function is there to help save on gas. You are right the car will work but it will not save on gas like it is intended to.
I'm not sure if this is related to my honda. My idle stop doesn't work for already months. Then today, It happen twice-While I was in an intersection and waiting for the green light. The idle stop didn't work(expected) but an error comes up the "battery charging" and the "low pressure oil" indicator. I need to turn off the car and put it ON and it works just fine after that. Its kinda frustrating and scary for safety reason.
Thanks for explaining and providing troubleshooting guide. I purchased a 2024 CR-V recently (150Km, yes very recently) and still experiencing same issue even after the dealership replaced the original battery. Is it possible that the alternator or battery charge controller is malfunctioning? How to tell? Thanks!
@ only warning is that start stop function is not working (same message as in the video). No other message or warning. After the replacement battery it’s been driven about 70km in city (start and stop) and highway. The first battery was changed because the original went dead (had to jump start).
@ ok that makes more sense .. unfortunately start stop mechanism has many restrictions so if it doesn’t work very frequently, I wouldn’t be too worried, it just isn’t meeting the right operating conditions ie weather , driving environments, climate control usage. Do you know why the first one went dead?

Yes, there is a sequence for re-learning the stop start function on that model, you might need to visit the dealer, however, before you do that, drive the car for approximately one to 2 weeks as sometimes it can self learn again, did you purchase the battery from Honda garage or independent seller?
