You can’t say that you’re buying a property to live in if you’re buying it to rent. That’s fraud. And she lied about the down payment. She said it was a gift but it wasn’t. She put $5000 in her husband‘s account and he moved it back. Fraud fraud and fraud. Wake up. I’m a CPA. I know what I’m talking about.

      Agreed! And if you use your OWN MONEY FOR YOUR EXPENSES, you should not be punished for it. How on earth is using your own 401K money for your bills an issue when near 800 other people withdrew funds from their 401K in the same way 2 of which were employed in the same office. This is ridiculous when even tax officials said that that she would have received a $50 penalty though it was not assessed by the entity managing her savings plan.

      Losing your law listens and having a felony is absolutely punishment. Especially for such a small paperwork crime. Unless something is violent someone hardly ever gets prison time as a first offender.

    I have not kept up with this story in its entirety. I couldn’t figure out how someone could be penalized for withdrawing their own money she didn’t steal it from no one. I’m glad that she isn’t going to jail but I don’t even think she should have gotten 12 months home confinement neither. Maybe a fine but no jail time.

    People's outrage is misplaced. People should be angry at a banking system that won't allow people to access their own retirement funds without a 30% penalty plus taxes. I understand her Florida property appreciated in value by 40% in 2 years, much more than the pitiful 5-10% return on investment she was most likely earning from her brokerage account.

      Smh. I’m not sure if you are just not educated on this topic at all or you’re just coming at it from a political point of view. But people don’t go to prison as a first time offender for paperwork crime. It’s shocking that the prosecutor would even ask for prison time, but they probably did so so people who are poorly educated wouldn’t accuse them of being soft on her. In fact mini Marilyn Mosby supporters are actually upset at the judge because there is a real reason to believe that the judge should have let Marilyn Mosby’s Side introduced more evidence in her support during trial.
      I understand many humans often believe their gut feeling has more validity than it does, but please try to understand that you don’t know what you don’t know.

    I really don't understand what the fuss was all about the woman was only handling and using her own money to do what she did. She didn't steal anything from anybody she didn't Rob anybody whatever she did with her own money was her option the system might not like the way she did it but she used her own money to do what she did.       How about we all try to hold ourselves accountable to actually knowing what we’re talking about before we talk, especially when we’re so sure of our opinion. You can have a net worth of a million dollars, but if your expenses are in excess of 2 or 3 million dollars, wouldn’t it be a hardship? Hardship doesn’t just apply to poor people. There are plenty of well-off people catching hell in this economy. They’re lamenting just like poor people about this economy.
      And the time wasted was the time and taxpayers money that was used to go after her with these charges and conviction that were clearly a retaliatory attack which came back void.
