I must confess I had a bit of a 🤣moment when I saw those "Le Boat" rentals, but it really makes complete sense. The people that are likely to be renting them do NOT have much (if any) experience traversing canal/lock systems. So yeah, to protect their investment it makes perfect sense to have those "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers" wrapped around the boats!
Yes, the le boat rental was a great way to see and travel on the Canal. Wedid a "short excursion" out of Dows Lake, going up to Burritts Rapids and returning via downtown Ottawa. The most exciting part was tieing up in downtown during a thunderstorm with Tornado Warnings in the area! A shout out to the two girls who braved the rain to help with our lines. They said, "Oh, we do not mind getting wet, we are used to it, we're from Ireland!" And a big shout out to Cousin Rev for training Miriam and Carol in handling lines. We got compliments from two lockmasters who said, "Wow, you guys are great!" Guess they often shudder when a le boat rental comes at them! Thanks Cousin Sam for all the tips on what to expect on the Rideau Canal, several of the Lockmasters remembered the Here's to US. Cousin Rus
Great Rideau videos! I finally got around to watching them. The one with the narrow stone blocks is where I grew up and we used to swim/fish. So glad you guys could do Rideau and Ottawa.
I met a couple from Texas in the lock at Merrickville Ontario, my first question was How did you get here from Texas. Fantastic journey. Thanks for sharing.

Great to hear from you! It is such a beautiful area! We often think about you and your family and your gracious hospitality ❤️!
A canal that most loopers should do but it is a little more attention getting. Enjoy
Thanks Buck! 😎
Another beautiful place to boat through. Those locks are an awesome engineering marvel. Be well and best wishes you two.
Every one of the locks amaze us! ☺️
