Abandoned Ranch Forgotten and Lost to Time

- As we stepped onto the sprawling property, of this forgotten ranch, lost in time, the first thing that struck us was the vastness of the land. The ranch stretched out before us, covering many acres. The buildings, though weathered by time, still stand tall and proud, as if refusing to succumb to the forces of nature that threaten to consume them. Despite the decay that has inevitably set in, there was a sense of quiet beauty that pervaded the place. It's as if the land itself had taken over, wrapping the buildings in a blanket of greenery and reclaiming what was once lost.

Losing water Rights will almost always spell doom for a ranch. All that work into building up the place, gone for naught! You two are great! Thanks for what you bring us!
That’s what happened to the family ranch we posted last week! So you’re probably right Kerry!
Thanks for coming along with us and we’ll see you next week.
❤ these desolate abandoned places. Like being transported into another world. The countryside is magical, vast and so flat. The huge windows are awesome … let in light. Love ure laugh Andrea 🤙🏽 what a. Campsite 🙌🏽
Some of them do have the appearance of other worldly! This place was immense!
It was a great campsite Bernardo, very peaceful and the drive back the next day was better than we expected.
What a view they had. So peaceful and serene. Steve knocking on the old cottonwood tree, Mrs. Owl popping her head out of the hole, "who"???
🤣 like in Winnie the Pooh
Andrea and Steve,
With all those camera setups it's not surprising your exhausted.
Your scene transitions are getting better and better, but it's so much more work.
Too bad you didn't find any newspapers or calendars to date the abandonment.
Great episode ,but a sad and lonely place......so much was lost.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
It does take a lot more time plus we have 3 lots of clips to download and match up and edit. Fun but it’s 24/7.
It was certainly a lonely place and miles in the middle of nowhere!
@@PinInTheAtlas It’s a labor of Love, I thought about those transitions where you both enter a room at the same time,
Perhaps that could be varied by either of you filming at times and then trade off, but then again, what do I know?
FRik
What a sprawling place that was, and so interesting. Yes, thankfully, there doesn't appear to be vandalism, even though certain areas are really crumbling and corroded. I wonder how long it has been abandoned. Thanks so very much, Andrea and Steven... a real head scratcher🤔👏💛🌞
It is nice to see just natural decay Rhonda. We have no idea how long it has been abandoned or the story behind it. I have read a few articles since then but they all contradict each other - so it remains a mystery!
Yesssssss💜
Hi Rhonda, am happy you are also a lover of nature
@@MorrisonJones-rb6yd I definitely am, Morrison.👏🌞
Hi Steve and Andrea, what an enormous ranch! The lightning damaged dead tree reminded me of the witches in Macbeth. The landscape was as flat as a billiard table and went on for ever until the mountains just sprouted from nowhere. A haunting place.
And miles in the middle of nowhere Brian. They must have been pretty self sufficient out there!
What a beautiful large homestead. It looks like they had everything on hand but the kitchen sink minus the graffiti.
It went on for what seemed like miles. We only explored half of it! And nice to see just natural decay for a change!
Amazing! More loos than you can shake a stick at! Don't concern yourselves with finding 1 for the next 3 explores. 🤣Very nice property with a certain dignity. Good explore. Trust you enjoyed camping there. Andrea, you're so naughty - frightening Steven like that. 😎Seeing you 2 enjoying life and your PINs makes me smile. Maybe you could have used the GoPro to film some of the rough road. Bon Voyage!
Hi David. Didn’t think about using the go pro for the drive. We weren’t expecting it to be that rough! We’ve been using it a lot though. We really appreciate whoever sent it to us. There was no name!
As far as scarring Steve, I thought I’d get my own back seeing as he is always doing it to me 😂
@@PinInTheAtlas Eager to see the GoPro in use for your explores. As they say -- Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! Bon Voyage!
Yep it’s great. We’ve been using it since we received it. That’s how we get the different camera angles.
@@PinInTheAtlas Yup! So glad you can enhance your videography. Are the gear bags handy too? Bon Voyage!
@@davidensign5172 yes thank you. We know exactly what we want to do with them.
I saw this place in another video but the person that recorded it did not show everything that you did.
Thanks Again!
We try to be as thorough as possible. This place was immense
Well hello you all found a NUT farm 😂 yes pistachio ?Any way in the comments the 1st time i read them someone said kind of a ranch for kids and covered type wagons then talked about the ranching end of it but came back and comment was gone i read to fast some times great adventure 🏆🤔🇺🇸p.s. at 8.30 the yellow piece of machery is a wide leveling blade to smooth out the fields pulled by a large tractor or dozer .
Thank you, we really loved this explore. The whole place was chalk full of goodies and the lands stretched out forever. We will remember this one for a long time!
Sooo interesting, refreshing no graffiti, thanks for the tour😎🤣🤩⭐️
It was nice to see a place that hadn't been touched by vandals, Charles
@@PinInTheAtlas I agree 1000%
It's always exciting to see these places on the map, that are untouched by vandals. It always breaks my heart that people are so destructive. Steve and Andrea, I'm glad you take the time for historical facts and also not say where these places are. We need to preserve these places, you can feel the history everywhere.
Thanks Diane. We love finding these old places especially when we are able to uncover some of the history behind them. We totally agree with you and its more than annoying to us when people have so little respect. We can learn so much from the past! Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy our other explores.
Oooooo, something to watch this evening. Thank youuuu! 👍😊
Looks like salad,😋😅😅
Thanks. This was a nice one!! Regards from Ody Slim
Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome, looks so peaceful and quiet. So much beauty in the land (not the buildings) 😄 and if I could be out in a place like that, I would be happy. Thank you for sharing and be careful, take care of your backs and get plenty of rest and don't overdo it. God Bless. 😊💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍(🐞🌹🦂🌵)
Thank you Rose. See you on our next adventure.
The decorative trim that you were not sure to call is a cornice board. We really your videos and I understand your concerns about revealing locations but it would be nice to know what state you’re in. 😊
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the info. We’ve never heard of it! This was in Arizona. We thought we had put it in the description! Sorry
The opening shots looked like 1 building and a trailer. It actually was much more and very interesting. Gramma Candy
That place is large! My guess is the women’s shoes are left over from a photo shoot… 😏
Also the crank 30’s windows 🤩
🤣 it was massive. Only covered about half of it. That took us all day!
A two cup morning, how exciting. What a step back in time. Turning back the pages, till the times I left behind. Like old photos misplaced and found one day in a shoe box, a closet, under the bed.. Or maybe ....memories like a flood, a blast from the past. Cool place. Y'all did a wonderful job. You sure that was a donkey and not a burro? From what I've read it was the miners burros that were let loose. Nonetheless, a burro is Spanish for a donkey, and a donkey is English for a burro, but an ass will always be an ass. This is a true and fair deduction that I've witnessed throughout my life. See ya next Pin🙂 In all seriousness, i don't like getting so serious🙂
Could have been a burro. We couldn't see it, just heard it Richard. And you're right about the ass!!! LOL
@@PinInTheAtlas 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for showing the nice place. I would like to live there after "some" renovation.
The small one roomed cottage was our favourite. And what a beautiful location. Totally agree with you Harald.
Good Video you 2.
Thanks Bill.
What a great location and as always what a great video! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome. Glad you enjoyed our explore. See you on our next adventure.
Wow. What a great pin. Wow.
Great travels 😎
Stop scaring me!! Andrea! Could the fancy trim in the house be called "gingerbread"? I have it in my kitchen, built in the late 50's.
Or a scallop of some kind
@jkfisher5752 Sorry! I've heard of gingerbread. You could be right there JK.
Just an opinion. I like this outro better than just a blump.
We try and mix them up a little. Perhaps we should do a poll!
Lovely video guys ! Amazing as usually !
Thank you Seb!
Thanks!
You’re the best T ❤️
@@PinInTheAtlas yw
Well it's great and not "Hooliganised" as per Andrea, quite a large place and I was taken back to my time as a Mechanic with all those spare parts arranged in rows of boxes as they were in them thar days, well done as usual and keep it up ay !! Cheers
Nice to see natural decay Brian Yes this place was huge and so much left behind. Guess they felt it wasn’t worth the expense of moving them!
Glad you enjoyed our pin and we’ll see you on our next adventure.
Kitchen looks a little grim, but my maid could have it rentable pretty quickly .. 🤣 !!!
( maybe the carpet could use some mowing )
Pretty cool place eh Charley?
@@PinInTheAtlas
Definitely, and the different materials make you wonder the period of use!? And the orchards!
( you got quite a laugh out of the refrigerator scare didn’t you, Andrea?! )
@@charleyfolkes Couldn't find a lot out about this place. Those orchards seem to go on for miles.
Thought it was about time I got Steve back for all those scares he gives me!🤣
Really enjoy camera placements and use 😎
Thanks. Still learning and experimenting.
go one, again thank you ALL stay safe
In the beginning the cart or cabinet with the different types of of holes. It could be for holder for plotted plants or hold maybe different kinds of food containers? It's hard to tell without a little better look. I don't know how you feel. But get a lot of sadness around there .
We're not sure what it could have held. We thought maybe some kind of drinks cabinet and the holes were for glasses or bottles! Have no idea.
We didn't get the feeling of sadness there.Didn't get any real feelings at this place - just questions!
@@PinInTheAtlas It's not uncommon for me to sometimes see or feel things others don't. But; also might not see things either. As Roy Rogers would say at the end his TV show. Happy Trails to you.
What a difference the absence of spray-paint makes!
Totally agree Peter. Very refreshing.
Another wonderful story of the American experience from our past…a song comes to mind..Nat King Coles great song…to the ends of the earth “ ..to follow and to find..thank you for sharing your journeys wherever..
Thank you Walter. Happy you enjoyed this explore. Lots more to come
PS. Love Nat. His music reminds me of my Dad
When you see all that empty land...this, this is when you realize "The Controllers" lie to us daily on how the world is overpopulated...sure it is to those who never leave cities.. Love your channel..
Thank you very much. Glad you are enjoying our explores. Lots more to come - every Tuesday. See you on our next adventure.
Are you sure this place wasn’t a bunny ranch kinda deal?
Not as far as we’re aware. We believe they lost the water rights
I'm new to your channel and I like it!
Thank you Paul. We post new content every Tuesday. See you on our next adventure.
Spitachios, flutterbys and hecilopters...🤔
LOL.
Very interesting set up. Look like some vandalism was done with pick up truck parts taken.. it was basically a cattle ranch. Why was it abandoned??😊
Have no idea Tina. There was some conflicting reports on line but nothing I can say for certain. One comment was about water rights which is a strong possibility.
@@PinInTheAtlas or maybe they were run off their land because of the water rights. Just like the cattle barron yrs 150 yrs ago. The old west.
Quite a spread.
15:45 It's called a valence board.
Thank you.
Pretty interesting explore. I wish you could of had gloves and picked up any paper or cardboard to find brands, or dates of things.
We do always look for dates Katrina, couldn't find any here which was a shame. Glad you enjoyed our explore.
Hi Katrina, nature is blessed
Looked like a cattle ranch to me. They make different sections with gates to separate the cows going to market or pregnant. Vaccine stuff like that. I thought i was the only one that got a hurt back driving my truck. My Ford hurts way worse than my GMC. Thank you for walking all over the place for us.
Cattle and the nut orchards. They were everywhere Chris. Yes both Steve and I have had back injuries. His was a motor cross accident mine was a car crash. Off roading plays havoc!
@@PinInTheAtlas my friends place that i told you, you could stay at has a motor cross track. Him an his boy race an he's to old to be racing but he got 1st place not to long ago. Have to go to my brothers funeral today.
Sorry for your loss Chris. We’re thinking of you and sending our love.
@@PinInTheAtlas thank you. I went to my brothers house an i didn't leave yet. There's guitars, a violin, banjos, everywhere ! Behind every chair an corners an closets. An arrowheads everywhere! It is truly a treasure hunt. Found my grandpa's 1926 class ring. He was in the 1st graduating class in our township. I'm totally overwhelmed! Did find my petrified wood that my great grandma gave me when i was little. Maybe from the redwood forest. I gave it to my brothet some years ago for Christmas. My friend picked it up an said what the heck is this! I screamed it's my petrified wood! Thank you, thank you. He was our best friend and knows where to find everything!
@@chrisblack8390 Ahhh, lots of memories to sort through.
I'm gonna guess that was a header molding or trim. There has to be a mine or something around there. That shop seems way to big and well stocked for just a family 👪. Well, unless I lived there. 😆
No mines that we could see Cody. But definitely a well stocked workshop and shed.
I'm catching up
Theres that laugh again Andrea, you got me laughing with you again.
Happy we brought a smile to your face Benji.
4:14 I told you about mud dubbers
Ah ha. Mud dubbers. That's it!
At 8:45, what is the yellow thing?
It was some sort of machine Jan.
@@PinInTheAtlas For farming?
Either that or maybe something to do with the orchards
IT IS CALLED A LAND PLANE. USED FOR LEVELING FARM LAND
@@swissdweaver Thanks for that.
You know what they say about the toilet? The job isn't finished till the paperwork is done!
🤣
I wonder if your night there was spooky:-)
No it wasn’t spooky at all Mel. Fortunately!
Made me jump too
Made ya jump 🤣😂🤣
For the last six years or so, my avocation has been competitive shooting. I look at all that flat land and see my dream practice range. Paper and steel targets, not existing structures, of course.
Well I guess not, after seeing the work shop
Looked like a salad station.
😅😅😅 a foodie, like me, exactly what I thought
Salad with a touch of nature
Looks like a tax write off
Well, that could have be the case Rick. Who knows.
Sculpted trim
Well let us know if it is haunted. Just kidding.
Didn't feel haunted and our cameras didn't pick anything up. Pretty amazing place though.
It really annoys me when people live somewhere, then abandon all of their junk, just leaving it there for someone else to clean up, if at all. Everywhere people go, trash follows. Some people may find these remains interesting, intriguing. I find them an abomination to nature and scars on the face of the earth. Now, if people continued to live there and kept their doings clean, that's much better.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. We understand and appreciate your perspective. The reasons why people left certain places can vary, and it's important to consider the historical, social, and economic context behind those decisions.
Our intention in exploring these abandoned locations is to showcase their intriguing stories and capture their unique atmosphere. We strive to approach these places with respect and sensitivity, documenting their existence as part of our shared history.
We don’t agree with unnecessary vandalism, destruction or trash from “visitors” which occur in such places. Preserving the integrity and historical significance of these sites is crucial, and we always encourage responsible exploration. We advocate for leaving places as we found them, without causing any harm or further deterioration. It's worth noting that after 50 years, the Antiquity Act comes into play, further reinforcing the importance of preserving these sites for future generations.
