That's because a lot of people use vocal reduction software to attempt to remove the vocals. Problem is, the lead vocal of mosts songs have added effects like reverb, delay, etc. giving the impression that the vocal is still there. I work with vocal reduction software myself and only about 30% or so of the current stuff works well with it.
