- case psentatation of a golden ret.male 4 yrs intact.
owner complaint :
abdominal ballooning ,anorexia,difficult breathing,relactant to move etc.
test:
1.sonography reveals accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity,no abdominal tumour found.bladder was intact.
2.serum biochemustry and ascitic fluid analysis
3.chest x-ray. reveals no cardiac abnormility, no cardiac and pleural effusion.
diagnosis
so the ascitis is due the liver issue.
treatment
liver supportive medicines like adinosyl and silybin,diuretics like furesamides and fluid to improve the circulatory volume.low salt and high protein diet.

This is excellent. My beloved Labrador's cancer (hemangiosarcoma) was missed by the vets because they did not listen to me when I said his stomach was bloated and distended; they dismissed it. He had also been presenting at the practice for months with lethargy, nausea, axtaia, acute pain etc which was never taken on board. When he was admitited for two days on my insistence 19 days before he was unexpectedly PTS his platelet count was very low and they dismissed that also with two episodes of haemorrhagic diarrhoea. He was wrongly discharged with HGE and then 19 days later he was PTS. It has completely broken me. If you have a breed that is predisposed to cancer particularly Labs & retreivers and you spot signs early on no matter how vague like I did please, please challenge your vet. My dog had lots of blood tests to rule out other diseases, but cancer was not mentioned once. And he was never given scans after his intial scan 8 months after his intial one. Because they never caught it 19 days prior to him being PTS it resulted in him suffering. They did not do fine needle aspiration on him when I insisted they take him in again on his final day as he was showing signs of hypovolemic shock (I didn't know that at the time, I just knew he was extremely ill and needed help) if they had of done fine needle aspiration it would have prevented putting him through surgery to find the cause and we would have then be able to be with him at the end which. My beautiful boy and my family were robbed of being with one another at the end. Do not believe the literature when it says cancers like hemangioscarcoma are hard to spot, they are not; the signs are there!

Apart from his english, he is damn good. His diagnosis is spot on. He should also recommend denamarin for 120 days as supplement and Iris Fresh 15 ml/day for 120 days.

@@mukeshredhu479 generally we prefer hypertonic solution to improve the circulatory volume like 25% human albumin @500 mg per kg .isotonic solution helps less to improve circulatory volume and hypotonic will reduce the circulatory volume.thanx

You can give high protein diet to improve the oncotic pressure.no salt and restricted water.med as advise by doctor
Our is also facing ascitis.. doctor just gave medicine , he didn't drained out the fluid is it okay ..?

Your doc xpects the dog to urinate excess fluid.
Taping is not needed in all cases it's required only when there is lot of fluid and causing difficult breathing

can you explain how to insert the needle and what kind of needle to use? length, diameter?
We introduce needle to tape the fluid and tapping is needed only when there is lot of fluid,generally you can use 20 to 22 gauge needle to tape the fluid at ventral side by the side of prepucial area due to gravity fluid will come out.if you have sonography than you can use it to tape the fluid
