I love your lessons, and I've become a subscriber, and I hate people that complain.........but if somebody is watching a Steely Dan lesson, you probably don't need to tell them where to put their fingers for an A chord. It just slows down the lesson for those of us with ADD.....but I love your videos.

Great explenation. I heard this song since back in the late 70's...never thinking ..ever possible to play..but...ok..running on in age..I gues, right..let's try it. And your showing it in clear and short pieces..bit by bit...making it possible..thx!!!! Oh..and thanks to YT and internet..imagine we had this back in the day😄

Good lesson, great song. I tried to learn this in 74, but my chord skill knowledge was limited.
I found The best way to learn theory then, was to dicuss it with other musicians.
Like this format bringing us together, to learn from each other. I'm still learning from other musicians. Thank you Jon.
A Jimmie Hendrix chord is actually a senenth chord with a sharp nine. B7(#9)

Appreciate these video lessons! If you take requests could you do a few riffs or a lead part from the new Intervals song mnemonic? Thanks!

At 8:22 in the tutorial (which is excellent), and please correct me if I’m wrong (I am a beginner), but an E9 chord is E G# B D and F#. If you play the low E open, you are playing E twice but missing the B. You need to play the low E string at the 7th fret. Your thoughts Jon?

You can omit the 5th in a chord. The important chord tones are 3rd & 7th as they define the sound of the chord.

this song, kind of simple and not surprisingly, their biggest hit, not sure what happened to steely dan once the 70's finished they never reached those heights again, tried to go too jazzy like little feat joni mitchell, how do you make a million dollars out of jazz? start with 2 million
