Frank Mason III was that national player of the year, averaged 21-5-5 and played at Kansas. Even he was a second round pick. Lots of guys can score big in college but don’t have the “nba build”
Yea he still a 5’10 165 lb pg without explosive athleticism that played 4 years in college, he still wouldn’t be drafted if he put up those same numbers today
John Lucas was cold in college, but he wouldn't sniff the lottery in 2024. He was 5/11 and 160 lbs. He went undrafted for a reason. Got to be able to play defense and score the rock in the league.
Lucas was cold in college. But your 5'9. Just born in the wrong era based on your college production. Made a dope career out of it even being smaller for NBA standards
@NoAudibles @NoAudibles it's few. Even just based on their college game he wasn't at their level. Many other smaller guards who were better college players than him didn't make it. K Fielder, Shantae Rogers, Frank Mason, Ulis (injury), Yogi Ferrell, to name a few. So it is rare. It's not something that's common. There are far more elite 6ft and under college guys who didn't play in the League. The names you listed are a rare few. Even adding Boykins, Murphy, Terrell Brandon. It's still very few
OH MAN, i remember my first year in Shanghai, someone told me hey you know there is a pro basketball league here. i was like oh cool / and dude was like but yo, there is this little guy, little black guy dropping like 40 points each game. I was like yeah??? I somehow found out about the league on the chinese internet and saw the name JOHN LUCAS III(40.53... points something% a page). I was like OH SHIT that must be john lucas's son(iwas raised in houston) and whent to their next game. The first 3 he shot was right in front of me and i stood up with the 3 point old school sign as it swished in him on the other baseline looking straight at me. We made eye contact and everytimeid come to the game they would put on a show. There was this jordanese player #23 that was ballin too. DUNKIN on everyone. They took it straight to the chip game that year and i hat tickets. OFC! but somehow universe had different plans, and i had a business opportunity. I didnt make the game. AND they lost by like 2-3points in the championship as i watched the last 8min or something by coincidence when i got home, someone had the tv on and i guess it was big news/game. I watched as they broke down on some wack free throw bounce. Smoosh was on the other team. I always felt if i was at that game they would have won it all.
They need to dona starting 5 of players who have gone through stuff like this...These are the behind the scene stuff we dont know about on how guys get to the league
Naaa his father didn’t know anything. He wasn’t being supportive simply put. Even if I thought my son wasn’t getting drafted the slight chance would be good enough to sit and watch with him
John sorry you drunk, them dudes averaging 6-8 ppg coming out is aliens 6’8 jumping out the gym or ridiculous upside……draft just not built for everyone, and it sucks cuz the best college players often don’t get a shot at all

Averaging “17 & 5” at OK State absolutely does not guarantee a lottery pick..ball is a lot more than numbers

Crazy to think how different guys journeys can be because Chuck Hayes signed that 10 day and would end up playing 5 seasons for Houston.

U weird for even stating this. That hate go get you
@nicblank09 I'm not weird for stating it. He said he'd be a lottery pick no doubt. He's the one who said it
@nicblank09 The measurables matter in the draft though.
He still proves he could make it in the league though
@@Christo_Trismegistus Lucas said he'd be a guaranteed lottery pick in 2024. I'm simplying refuting that as wrong.

You know many dope guards are 6’0” and below? lol Muggsy was 5’3”. Damon Stoudamire, Isaiah Thomas,Spud Webb, CP3, etc. that’s not a sufficient take.
