They actually compliment each other well as they have two distinctive, and beautiful, sounds. I already own a Guild F-50R (jumbo) so the J-45 (or a Martin 000-18, I can't decide yet) would compliment it nicely.
I’m in love with a J-45 at a studio in Texas. They have an amazing Dreadnought collection... in this particular video, I’ll say, the J-200 for strumming and the J-45 for finger picking.
I just played a J-200 a J-45 and a Taylor 614 Jumbo - I could have picked any, wound up with the Taylor. It's like everything that makes a Taylor a Taylor but with beautiful low end resonance. Something to try out if you like those two Gibsons. P.S I still want both the Gibsons. :)
Depends on what sound you want. Love them both. What's wrong with owning both? I would have to choose the 200 since I already have a j-45. If I could only have one it would have to be the j-45. I love the shorter scale length and playability not to mention the great acoustic sound. The mahogany is brighter and gives me the sound I like.

Subjective and each to their own I guess. I don't seem to think so, whilst custom and limited/vintage models are great they are overpriced. Especially the custom signature editions. Perfect example is Martins John Mayer custom model which is retailed at $14,999.00 and Bob Dylans SJ200 - $6000 USD (prices may vary at resell outlets?). Are they worth that? I don't think. My 2012 J200 standard sounds pretty much the same as the Bob Dylan model and some vintage models which was nearly half the price and although I never paid full retail for my standard it was worth it. It has the tone response I was looking for in an acoustic.
Sure they are expensive, and always were but they hold their value. I think they are worth the money, and there is no substitute for owning a good Gibson acoustic, they bring happiness.
