I lived in WNY since I was born until I was 16 very interesting place.I’ve been all over the world but this humble place still warms my heart every time I see it.
I was born in Jersey city, to Cuban & Italian parents, but raised in WNY till I was about 16 yrs old. We moved to Central Florida in 1983. It’s been more than 20 yrs since I last visited WNY, NJ. WNY, still holds a special place in my heart ❤Thank you for the video tour. Lots of wonderful memories with family & friends growing up there. Some day I plan on coming back! 😊
I sent your video to my dad. He loved it Manny! He said living in WNY since 1962 was the best time of his young life, after leaving Cuba. He met my Italian mother in an elevator at a purse factory, and were married in 1964 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church on Palisade ave. They’ve been married for over 56 yrs. His first cousin Albio is the mayor of WNY. He too came back to the town he grew up in and became the mayor of WNY again! 😂
2:58 my friend used to live in that building on the left right on the top floor 😢 remember when I used to go to pick her up and that window 🪟 on the left was her room 😊
I was very familiar with Bergenline Avenue when I was a kid cause my grandparents house and fish store was at 20th and Begenline; Lippi's fish store was in Union City, a couple blocks from West New York; like the narrator was saying, the densely populated cities run right into each other. I lived in North Bergen from three weeks of age until I was three! My grandmother was Sicilian but when the Hispanics populated the area, she learned Spanish so she could communicate with them. She took me to Saint Michael's Monastery to the Spanish language Mass, when I was a kid in Union City. I could look out my grandparents kitchen window and see the Empire State Building (what a view). West New York is right by the Hudson River; they filmed the movie "On the Waterfront" starring Marlon Brando, a couple of blocks away from my grandpa's fish store. Right around where the Lincoln Tunnel goes into New York City. He mentions Kennedy boulevard where I watched my grandpa (Cipriano Lippi) carry the U.S. flag in front of a huge parade in the sixties; he was the commander of the VFW. TOM LIPPI Denver, Colorado
I lived in West New York , NJ for many years from 1996 to 2002 right on Bergen line and 60th St 😢 I remember this place a lot I used to walk from Union City all the way up to Fort Lee with a whole bunch of friends , I left New Jersey after the 9-11 now I live in Florida in this heat 😂😂 I really miss New Jersey 😢
Couple of notes, Miller stadium is a Baseball park. You can see the stadium as it was shown in the music video Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen. Yes you can Sneeze and be in a different town. Where you started at the light rail, that location had a Gino's Fast Food Restaurant that served both hamburgers and they had a agreement to sell KFC.
Hey bro hope you are well. Just find this channel. Really enjoying it so far. Great history and you really know your stuff. Looking forward to seeing more from you. Glenn and Sarah x
I'm from Australia and I'm fascinated with the idea of West New York, NJ. I first heard about WNY from Futurama. How fast can you travel from WNY in New Jersey to NYC? What's fastest, driving, subway or ferry? And what did you film this on? The video quality is very good.
If you take a bus the best bet is to walk to boulevard east to get on the nj transit line or even the independent lines. The latter of course do not disembark inside of port authority. Depending on what you’re doing in Manhattan you’ll have to walk above ground to your train lines after using the independent lines.
Thanks for showing us west New York. Your videos are amazing my friend. I always wanted to visit New York.. And I hope I could see you somewhere there...
I lived in WNY from 1969. I lived on Blvd East in the high rise Tower West. 6050 Blvd East. Was a great area. Lived all over too. Guttenberg, No.Bergen,Jersey City. Regret moving. Live down the shore now.A lot of Cubans
I was raised in WNY and lived there till I was in my 20s 😊 and I am cuban American and some of the damn best cuban food is over there. And yes you really better know your spanish if you are gonna live in that area. I still live in NJ but more in central and I miss WNY

Your footage is so crisp and clear, I've never had an iPhone, is it just good because you filmed on an iPhone or what?
