Wow! Thank you so much, James! Very kind of you to help keep us going... I usually try to keep the Thursday vids "clean", but in this case I figured it was better un-edited, haha... Cheers from me and Frankers!
There was a local car graveyard I discovered in the late Seventies. The guys never sold anything until the Government forced the owner to auction off cars and crush the rest. There was a bright green Chrysler exactly like this one. It was auctionned off for an amazing amount. Those vehicles make sensational yard art. They even sold a second one that had been under a roof and was in better condition. Guess what: the mossy, crunchy one with a damaged rear axle sold for more than the good one. Every one familiar with the yard had seen this green monster sitting in the same spot for nearly fifty years and longed to own it.
I've liked that car ever since I saw it years ago on your channel, and I believe it should have the same chance of starting and driving as any other car on the property...
Toms antics are as funny as ever! Wouldn't hurt to see if it still runs or not, who knows maybe you could get to to move about under its own steam, even if all you have is 1st gear. If the floors and the frame are too far gone to ever be restored maybe that ones a candidate for a coat of oil or something just to protect what sheetmetal remains 😂
Love to see the ‘47 running. I don’t see it on the road. That Tom is hilarious ! I think the camera girl is Flag Girl , The Struggle Is Real. She helped with the bumper guard on the Kaiser. See you Saturday !!🇨🇦
Despite Tom’s doubts about Tractor Gnome’s clutching abilities, the extraction of the Chrysler was a resounding success. I think its best service is as yard art, given that attractive front grillwork. Thanks for a most entertaining and enjoyable midweek experience.
Scott, as my dad used to say "Chrysler, what a car!" It begs for a will it run! If you could sort the linkage Fluid Drive was a treat to drive. No need to declutch at lights and though it's been more than 50 years since I drove a 50 Dodge with Fluid Drive I seem to remember no clutch for up shifts. It worked very much like the early Bug "automatic". Great to see Frankers "sticking" around through the whole show! Tom killed your G rating in less than 60 secs this episode! Tom never fails to provide "color" commentary! Speaking of human rust I was 6 when that Mopar rolled off the line! High desert Cheers all around!
* Thankyou Scott ! Perfect timing I was just in the mood for some nonsense ! Oh , and her name is pronounced ; Roy-Al and That color is called "Air Cruiser Red" 👊🤣👍 I get all warm and fuzzy listening to Tom's Happy Banter ! I say Get It Going and give it a quick squirt of Air Cruiser Red ! PPG actually reproduces that color. Cheers to everybody !
Great car Scott!! I learned to Drive in a 1946 DeSoto-same basic car/with fluid drive! yes lots of good times for a kid! Thanks for saving that grand lady!! Cheers, Rich
Those year Chryslers had beautiful dashboards and their 6cyl engines were practically indestructible. I've never been much of a Mopar fan but have two of them, a 1926 Chrysle 70 and a 1949 Plymouth, so I guess I like them more than I thought. I would definitely love to see you get her running!
My dad bought a '48 in 1954. The nicest car he ever had to that point. It was white. In the space of the first 2 weeks, his 4 year old (me) branded the wood glove box door about 8 or 9 times with the cigarette lighter, and our dog chewed all of the upholstery from the top of the rear seat at the package shelf. I can still clearly remember that day, and we laughed about it a few years before he died. He was the best dad.
I am a weirdo: I say, save it, save it, save it! I love this gen of Chryslers, Caddies and other cars. I know very few people care. Those cars were actually much more solid and reliable than the finned Beauties of the late Fifties. Their skins are very thick and the engines did not have a very high compression. If people would not have run for cars with newer styles, some might be on the roads today. At least make a "Will it start" video, I will love it very much.
Tom is just the best. That was quite the beautiful car. Western Canadian Frankers seemed less than enthused. If the engine isn't stuck, it'll run. Cheers!
Thanks for another Thursday treat. Another episode of Tom wandering in ready with some wisecracks. 1940s Chrysler products were such nice cars. They looked good, were comfortable, easy to drive,. As can be seen from old photos they were everywhere and would run forever.
I'd be lying if I said I haven't been waiting for years to see the will it run on that I mean it's always easier to have the fleet be able to move under its own power
A dear departed friend of mine had one of these with the front sub frame of a Chrysler New Yorker under it with a 440 V8 and a torqueflite. It drove really well. That was probably 25 years ago.
When I was in HS, I would ride my bike several miles to visit this elderly fellow who had a fleet of 47-48 Chryslers and also a 1932 Lincoln. He had been an aeronautical engineer in ww2, and I could listen to his stories all day. He taught me quite a bit (as do you guys regarding bodywork). He bought a surplus quonset hut and lived in it - all the walls inside were squared off. Today his property was sold and turned into a subdivision under his sir name in Woodbridge VA.
A make it run on the '47 Chrysler would help with "musical cars" Scott so that would make useful and interesting content. Tractor Gnome sure gets testy about unsolicited driving tips and tricks.😅 .. It's always a treat when Tom comes by. Looking forward to the Saturday edition. Best Wishes to everyone at Cold War Motors, their Families and Friends.
I always liked the looks of those 46-47 Chrysler's with the long hood. When I was in my late teens our neighbor across the street bought one like the one he had in high school in the 1950's.
I would love love to see the 47 Chrysler running and shiny. One like that meant a lot to us when I was a kid in the 40s in Alice, Texas. I especially remember how smooth and quiet it was. Thanks Scott and agents.
Scott, that's my ride. I remember when you got that Chrysler. I had a 47 and 48 dodge like that. Love it. I'll bet it's a runner. Glad you drug it out. See you Saturday. Cheers from Wisconsin

"a few of them have already commited suicde" LOL
Tom sure likes to bust your balls.
What fantastic car!
It would be nice to see the Chrysler wander around the yard under its' own power, so yeah go for it!👍
Heck yeah, fire that old flathead six on up! I bet it would not be that difficult.
Cheers, and see you Saturday.
You bet, get her making smoke and noise and at least some gentle motion under her own power! Cool old Chrysler!
Tractor Gnome, Camera Girl and Tirade Tom, cameo appearances to make any Thursday episode complete!
Get it running, Scott!
Carter Auto sent me, glad he did, nice work Sir
I'm glad you pulled that out. I've always liked the look of that car. It looks like something the local fire chief would have driven around town.
Yes, I would love to see it start.
Tom's here, so much for monetization...😎

Seems like a good place to have board meetings. 😄

What a great looking old survivor, yes it'd be neat to hear it run, good job you had Tom around to help with the move
Here is the first vote to get that old girl up and running, such a design piece.
Tom is always so quick witted, u must enjoy him coming over:)
Love the Chrysler. It would be great to hear it running. Also great to see Tom in his element helping and joking around. Mart in England.
Yeah, definitely get it running.
It is definitely tempting to get it going... I'll try to put aside a few days this summer... Cheers!
I think it would be great to hear it run!
"Harmonica grille" ... new one for me. And, yes, it must run once again.
Of course, we want to hear it run. Sick cars for a sick world after all...
Scott, my vote is to get it running.
Yes the 47 is definitely worth a will it run video cheers Thanks for the video see ya Saturday
Cold start for sure. Tom was in rare form!
Please get that 🙏 47 Chrysler running . It's in surprisingly complete condition .
Love ❤ too see that 40 Dodge as a , daily driver
I've liked that car ever since I saw it years ago on your channel, and I believe it should have the same chance of starting and driving as any other car on the property...
"oh for God's sake have you driven a goddamn standard before!?" Holy crap your videos bring me so much joy 😂😂
Edited for spelling
"You should have seen it before" 😆 Tom is a treasure!
Running is always a good time. What’s on the agenda for summer showdown? Always a good time!
Toms antics are as funny as ever!

I love that car. Honestly, I'd get it drivable. The styling is beautiful. That front end. WOW.
You have to get her running. Great video

Two treasures, the 47 Chrysler & Tom.
'It's not gonna roll and hit anything?'
'I think it'd be hard to tell, even if did.'
Gold. Absolute gold. And then there's Tom. LOL
It’s not beyond your skills Scott to save this classic Chrysler 😃.👍🏻🇦🇺.
Nice old original car. Classic looking 40's auto. It deserves to be preserved.
Get that baby fired up! It's a neat car. It ought to run, and I bet it'll run great.
I would love it if you would do a will it start on that old Chrysler.

Great car Scott!! I learned to Drive in a 1946 DeSoto-same basic car/with fluid drive! yes

Fluid Drive offered the “stateliest” acceleration of any car, ever!
Spud - I'll bet it was a real Slushbox 💦🫠

Tom busting balls keeps me laughing and love the Franker's.
I reckon everyone should have access to a Tom in their lives ! He’s gold!
Any vid with Tom in it is great, and something you’re gonna cherish in 30 years or so
Tom is a roto-rooter for the ear canals! Love it.
Harmonica grille era Chryslers always look like they're happy to see you...
would be fun to see it running one day.
You should get it running, along with all the other cars you have that are able.
Hooray for Tractor Gnome!
Love that old tractor. That Chrysler deserves a good once over. Getting running driving and stopping and leave it as is and drive it.
Great car! Great stick Thanks for the video see you tomorrow!

The Chrysler Royal is amazing with all that stainless steel still gleaming after all these years. I always get a grin when Tom shows up to supervise.
love the wheels on that tractor art deco
I'd be lying if I said I haven't been waiting for years to see the will it run on that I mean it's always easier to have the fleet be able to move under its own power
THATS IT !!!!! one of my favourite cars that you have there . i cant believe you are giving it a go , but I'm thankful that you are .
My vote for getting 1947 Chrysler running Scott.

Yes, please let's try to get the '47 running again at least for a few minutes one of these days this year.
Tom was full of wisdom. Many wiseass comments. Full of it.
Totally felt the old “restore everything!” gene kicking in. Love those post war cars.
Tom in charge. He had your arse, fella.
That damn Tom cracks me the hell up, reminds me of my great uncle John rest his soul…..!!!

I just love the looks of that Chrysler. Even faded it has a regal look. When you took your family anywhere, you arrived in style.
it's one of my favourite US car designs from that era along with the '48 Buick Roadmaster
Camera Girl = Voice of the Mysterons 😀😀
