Hi Everyone! This video was not meant to be released until October 18th but came out today by accident. I've set it to unlisted so if you find it, enjoy. I will be making it public again on the 18th and the Female Serial Killers video the following Tuesday, the 25.
To me, the theory that it was Albert’s doctor who killed the women in 1888 doesn’t hold water for one main reason: the Whitechapel killings were brutal and sadistic. One who kills simply to quiet them needs not to rip them completely- Jack the ripper didn’t kill his victims, he destroyed them. Therefore I don’t think it was anyone sent by Queen Victoria. I believe whoever did it did so because it gave him pleasure.
Two thoughts on this: 1) a doctor, even in that time, would have pretty good knowledge of the inner workings of the human body and would know how to kill someone without outright slaughtering them. 2) if you were a doctor and you wanted to kill someone, would you go about it in a way that leads to you as a suspect? Or would you make it look like the works of a way less "refined" profession? I don't say you're wrong, we're all just speculating here, but I wouldn't push the idea of the doctor too far away.
@@dorderre I saw a great documentary where they pinned down who the killer actually was. He was a butcher and he had excuses to be around the streets at night and in the early hours, delivering meat to homes and commercial establishments. He had an excuse to be bloodstained.....they even showed photos of him. He was a brutal husband and father and he lived to be old enough to have grandchildren. He wasn't a well liked man......I think even his loyal wife ahd left him by then.
Another good theory for me is that a woman did it, that's why the Ripper was able to navigate the streets while the police was nearby and still not get caught. Her signing as Jack would totally mislead them. Also a midwive would know some basic anatomy and no one would think it's weird if she has a blood stain.
@@sleepysmoke7581 I don't know if you're still interested in the subject, but a similar theory was presented in Lemmino's Jack the Ripper video essay, available on youtube. It's wonderfully animated too.
I'm really happy that Lindsay took a more fair and unbiased view of Gilles de Rais and his case, instead of going the sensationalist route of assuming every accusation against him was true. I have to also point out that the Church seemed to accuse everyone they didn't like of being satanists, be they Jews, Protestants,Romani, etc. so I find it suspicious that they accused Gilles of this when they were so quick to pull out that card to anybody they disliked.
I agree. I'm one that believes he was innocent. The Church has a long history of corruption and he was an easy target . To be accused of such crimes, there'd have to be some evidence closeby where Gilles de Rais lived...there wasn't. Also, for the kids who were missing, I wouldn't put it past them (Church and the Duke) to have been involved in that.
True….one has to wonder how true any of the church’s accusations are.🤔The church was immensely powerful back then, so….it stands to reason they could accuse anyone of anything and never be called to task for it.🤔
As an amateur Ripperologist, the best argument I have heard is that H.H.Holmes was the killer. The theory is that he plied his hobby on both sides of the Atlantic. His travel journals put him in England during the murders, and his M.O. fits. There is a documentary by Holmes' grand nephew; it is very fascinating.
Although the killings of Jack the Ripper and HH Holmes (that we know of) don’t line up. Holmes was more…practical if you will when it came to his victims and did his best to dispose of them as best he could. His primary motive was insurance fraud. Jack the Ripper on the other hand? He was brutal and sadistic, killing for pleasure and his crime scenes grew more and more gruesome.
I don't think the theory of Albert really works. Not all of the five women killed were sex workers, if I'm not mistaken only one was the rest were homeless but did not work in the sex trade. The Five by Hallie Rubenhold is a great book that details the history of the victims of Jack the Ripper.
Why am I only seeing this now? I never miss an upload. How did I miss this? When I'm not watching history documentaries, I'm watching true crime. Perfect cross over, well done
I really appreciate adding Dhu Shanatir in this list as a Yemeni, however what you used as a model for him is actually the statue of King Dhamar bin Ali.
Okay the blackmail theory makes no sense. There is no evidence to suggest all 5 victims actually knew each other, and Albert Victor was already pursuing engagement to someone else, Princess Helene of Orléans, with his mother’s knowledge and according to everyone who knew them, they were deeply in love. Why would Albert Victor pursue engagement to another if he was secretly married? It could risk exposing his already existing relationship

Firstly, the acts committed by Vlad were acts of war, which doesn't qualifies him as a murderer. That's equivalent to saying that whoever joins the army becomes a serial killer during retirement. Secondly, Vlad was a member of a Christian military order founded by HRE Sigismund, aimed to wipe out Muslims from Europe. His barbaricity against the Muslims was done to protect Christianity in Transylvania. Mass murders done in the name of religion doesn't qualifies it's perpetrator as a serial killer. Thirdly, Vlad's death marked the begining of Turkish rule over Transylvania, so he is venerated as a martyr who died defending his country & subjects.

It was found out many years ago that Jack the Ripper was an American sailor. His brother wrote a letter for whomever would someday read it, explaining that his brother was Jack the Ripper. He gave explanations & details. There were Jack the Ripper killings in America when he was home. But of course they weren’t recognized as such. Using the dates & ships he was on and when he was in England, all match the time and dates of Jack the Ripper killings. He hated women, because of his mother. I don’t remember the exact details. The documentary however is really good.
Jack the Ripper was American due to the language in the Dear Boss letters and the multiple ripper like killings in america after the white chapel murders. A theory is H.H Holmes was Jack the Ripper, but it has been slightly debunked and is more likely that these two Serial Killers were operating at the same time in similar areas, but H.H. Holmes had a less open door policy on showing his murders. He preferred to dispose of evidence rather than show what he had done. But both had very similar motive and skill in their killings.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention George, Crown Prince of Serbia. He kicked his valet to death in 1909 and due to public outrage, was forced to give up his succession rights, setting up his younger brother, Alexander, to become the eventual king of Yugoslavia.
