It's really not that smooth TBH, there's very little consistency to the arcs and easing and a lot of the motion feels very disjointed and choppy as a result. It still reads well enough to be entertaining, though. I'm honestly amazed someone took the time and effort to make something as off the wall as this. Kudos to Youguozi!
@@Little-BusterTezuka's work is up your alley, as well as some of the artists that were writing during jis time and came after him. really you'll find a lot of older (im talking 60s) with this style and anything similar is most likely a remake or retelling Metropolis is one Giant Robo The Day The Earth Stood Still is another good one, tis more 80s/90s in animation style but uses the older 60s character designs (with some 80s/90s design elements) Lupin III's series is also pretty whacky and cartoony in style but the 70s animation is a bit more limited and modern stuff has more modern animation with the cartoony designs

I've seen a couple of anime and or Touhou animations from people using 3D models that also recreate scenes from Classic Looneytunes and MGM cartoons. And while it's super cool that there are people out there who pay homage to the all time greats they often don't add some of the animation techniques that makes those scenes so iconic, like going off model, squash & stretch or adding effects like smear frames to exaggerate certain movements. I understand it's a lot harder to add these effects when it comes to 3D models but without atleast some of those aspects, something like, someone getting a plank slammed in their face, for instance isn't nearly as impactful as it would have been with those elements included. It's really amazing that YouGuozi, not only recaptures the scene fully in 2D, paid attention to these details to keep the spirit of the original intact but even goes so far to chance small details in certain scenes for added comedic effect. Keep up the amazing work Youguozi! (PS the cartoon that's been partially recreated: 1943's The Wise Quacking Duck)

I know next to nothing about Touhou but I’m assuming these characters were chosen because their personalities and dynamic are similar to the original looney tunes characters in this short. I like to believe that there’s a cute anime girl character with a personality identical to Bob Clampett Daffy Duck.
It's not about similar personalities. Mystia (the girl in brown) is here because Youmu's boss is a big eater who once expressed some interest in eating Mystia. That's the dynamic shown here, Youmu has been told by her boss to cook Mystia for dinner.
Paying homage to the Golden Age Cartoons with anime in the mix looks pretty cool. This reminds me of that _Pokétoon_ short with Scraggy and Mimikyu riding on the train.
