    DK,i don't care how good the pitching is or how much talent this team has amassed,as long as Andy by god Haines is in charge of this organizations offence from low A to the MLB they are going nowhere. Make trades for vladjr or louis robert jr or anyone else up to and including alonso it will make no difference once the albatros known as Haines gets his hooks into them. Pitching wins in the postseason,offence gets you there.

    I don’t understand resting Cutch and Gonzalez on the same day. It’s hard to produce runs with one good hitter in the lineup.

    Watching this offense is just completely deflating. Year 5 of this management regime and they march out worse than a rebuild quality batting lineup. Henry Davis hitting .153 and Grandal not much better at .184…. Jack Suwinski hitting
    .170, Taylor hitting .192 and Jared Triolo at .209….. The list goes on and on. To have 5-6 batters in a lineup that collectively sits right around .200 is probably the most embarrassing thing about this entire botch job of a season. To have pitching like this and not be 10-15 games over .500 should be a crime against humanity. Just sheer, blatant incompetence by the absolute worst ownership and management team in all of professional sports. I don’t even know why I watch anymore. Blah.. Sorry for the 4 AM rant.

      Totally agree, and I hear, not much talent down on the farm for immediate help. By time a new GM could rebuild the offense, our big 3 starters will be gone...

    • @robr1611
      @robr1611 3 месяца назад

      @@pato6672 Our hitting is atrocious in the minors. Everyone who MIGHT be something is in A-ball or Rookie ball. Baseball America just took Termarr Johnson out of their Top 100 prospects list (our only non-pitcher on there). Sad reality is even if they would want to go and get a big bat like Robert or Vlad Jr they probably don't even have enough on the farm to get them

    They usually hit when Skenes is pitching. This is such a waste of starting pitching. Cherrington needs to adios.

    Im so tired of this..... the offense is horrible...pitchers busting thete butt nightly..... while they cant hit...they look uncomfortable up there...lost... watch better teams..there hitters look confident......NOT swinging at pitches in the dirt and out of the strike zone by alot... like the pirates are...i dont care if cruz hits ball in the river....lets get some singles...xbh etc every game.... not one big hammer hr every 8 games. WHO cares🤢

    Only in Pittsburgh would a 300 lb first baseman spraying singles for two weeks to get his average over .200 be seen as a positive development. Tellez has 2 home runs and 19 RBIs at the midway point of the season. He's a brutally bad baseball player.

  • @glockensig
    @glockensig 3 месяца назад +3

    Go out and get a hitter......why? So Andy Paines and Da'wreck Shelton (former hitting coach) can destroy another career by turning him into a non-hitter!
    We're still where we were when I said this two weeks ago:
    - We're closer to last place than first!
    - We're below .500!
    - We're closer to Da'wreck's career .400 win % than we are the Brewers current win %

    Sad reality is that they don't have anybody at Indianapolis who can hit AAA pitching let alone MLB pitching and it goes all the way down to A ball. We can still find comfort in the fact that the Steelers go to camp next month.

    20 hits the last 5 games and Reynolds has 7 of them! The remaining "hitters" in the lineup have a total 13 hits in those 5 games, an average of 2.6 hits per game. PATHETIC!

    I support my favorite sports teams to the nth degree. I've made it a point to catch just about all of the Pirates games live this season because of the spectacular starting pitching. Yesterday's game was a turning point for me.
    Until yesterday's game, the Pirate players looked energized in the games that Paul Skenes started, and they also gave him plenty of run support. This Pirates offense showed that it's clearly capable of doing that. Those games were a total joy to watch because the pitching and the offense were productive and in sync. Those games provided some reasons for optimism.
    Yesterday's game was a complete travesty. Skenes once again gave a brilliant performance on the mound, but you would never know from the players' demeanor and extremely low energy level during the game (excluding Bryan Reynolds, of course) that Paul Skenes was even on the team, let alone pitching in the game.
    The Pirates organization is absolutely dripping with malaise, and it has trickled down to the majority of the position players and their offense. The starting pitchers have been talented enough to transcend the massive organizational dysfunction (as have Holderman and Bednar). The position players, on the other hand, have been more negatively impacted by the field manager and coaching incompetence (except Reynolds, Gonzales, and McCutchen). This organization is the poster child for top-to-bottom dysfunction, and many of the players consistently look demoralized.
    The fact that Derek Shelton didn't place McCutchen or Gonzales in the original lineup yesterday was essentially managerial malpractice. He's a HUGE part of the of the problem, and he consistently makes lineup and in-game decisions that regularly cost the team wins. The sad fact is, even if Ben Cherington acquired players (which he won't) that improved the team significantly enough for the Pirates to sneak into the playoffs, Shelton is not competent enough to manage a playoff-caliber team. He'd be outsmarted every step of the way by just about any opposing manager, and the Pirates don't play with enough energy under him for them to be consistently productive in consecutive games (except the starting pitchers because they're extremely good and appear to be holding each other up).
    I really don't know at this point if I'll continue to watch Pirates games, and I've been a huge fan. However, I have to draw the line somewhere. As things currently stand, my effort to support and encourage the Pirate players now causes me to feel like I'm supporting, encouraging, and even enabling a damaged organization that's both directly and indirectly damaging the psyches and performances of a good number of the Pirate players.
    Enough is enough. CLEAN HOUSE at the top and start over systematically. Then maybe I'll watch.

    DK It seems like to me that they are not going to help this team out. Whatever Nutting or Cherington say is all talk. Unless action is taking they will be scoring one run a game.

    We can’t get to one game under .500. It’s been a viscous cycle for almost a month. Until something is done with this lineup(adding), this is where we are going to be, here on out!

    Get used to wasted outings for Skenes. No regular in the starting lineup is hitting over .270, home run leader with 12 ???? 3rd base base can't stay healthy, who is playing centerfield,, second base, first base and right field ????

    When will cherington quit picking up DFA’d middle relievers with 10+ ERA and hope they work out.
    I was drawn back to the Pirates after a long absence due to the excitement surrounding the starting pitching. There are very few holes to fill to make the team competitive. What will it take for action to be taken!

    In a nutshell, the prices right now are problematic for any GM. The problem points back to the off-season. Pick up better players in the off season and you're less likely to have these problems. Oh, and get a hitting coach who can fix something when broken.

    The word(s) from all of the leadership is sickening. You mentioned Cherington and Nutting's comments about doing nothing and relying on the people in place. Seriously? We have more than half the lineup on any given day batting waaaaay under .200 with the All Star break not very far down the line. The schedule gave us a nice shot at sweeping a series against TB so what does the Manager do? Uses as many players with sub-.200 averages as he can sift through, then in the post game conference he blames everything on near misses: "Just an inch and a half to the left ... " etc. Then in the 8th or 9th inning where we need base runners, a .170 batter enters the lineup to pinch hit for a .200 batter. These are the players we have available that we are supposed to rely on. Nothing but excuses from the leadership and us fans need to start yelling; "THIS IS YEAR 5!!!" from the top of every building in the skyline that's seen from home plate! Thanks for all you do to help the cause! Peace Out!
