the fact that SAG is including Rikki & Vikki with every purchase makes this such a WIN. One of the greatest homebrew titles of all time, for any system. Happy to own an original but will lovingly put it back in it's case and enjoy it on the 7800 GD! Save states will make it even more fun.
I got mine last Wednesday! It is such a great product. Finally we can play all our 2600 and 7800 games without modding the console. As a collector I don't like modding my systems so this is perfect. Tested it on my 4k OLED with Retrotink 5x and on my CRT. It looks great!
Stone Age Gamer is a cool place. I’ve been going to their store in Salem Ohio for years now. They have decent prices and I usually end up shooting the breeze with the a couple of the employees.
This is awesome! I understand the dev will now switch back to Jaguar CD support for the Jaguar Game Drive. I'm looking forward to that update, those games really need the save function. Anyway, nice to see a new GameDrive for the 7800
While I nearly have a complete 7800 set at this point (4 games shy) this is very exciting to me especially for homebrew and the 2600 library. While I have an Edladdin Seagull 78 Adaptor and a RetroGameBoyz 7800 Gamepad, the Mega7800 adaptor seems a must have so I can FINALLY play my light-gun games. Its really hard to find an Atari XE Lightgun for a reasonable price and even at the high price point they are usually "as is".
Your 7800 game looks great. A Pokey/Hokey soundtrack would only add to your game's presentation, matching the visuals in terms of quality. 7800 games should have the very best sound. It would be cool to see 2600 games that supported an in-cart d.s.p, similar to the one found in Pitfall II.
Looks amazing. But that price. Ouch! Guess I'll have to start saving. I'll definitely be getting the controller adapter. The Atari 7800 is underrated for sure. It's still punching above its weight after all these years, thanks to the gaming community.
How would you compare the 7800 Gamedrive RGB vs. 2600+ HDMI output? Is the quality similar? Also is the RGB basically a component connection? Thanks for the help.
Hi there John hey can you tell me where can I get the Donkey Kong version that you were playing? I cannot seem to find it. Thanks for your help. Also, may I ask how much for a copy of your games thanks.
This is really nice and I'm just stumbling on it now. I'm hoping that the Atari 2600+ will give me at least the video output experience and that it works with the Harmony cart. That would be enough for me. Fingers crossed!
Not yet but I dug up an old cartridge I had since 1999 or 2000 called, "Multi-Cart" which had about 300 games but had dip switches. It actually works. I tried to find one online but they don't seem to exist.@@alexshdvideo
Hi there John hey I was wondering to know if I can get your opinion on something I have a chance of getting a dragonfly SD cart I already have a 7800 Game Dr. do you see any reason to get the dragonfly SD cart or either other things you can do with that one I’m not familiar with a dragonfly so I thought I’d ask you I appreciate any help. I just didn’t wanna spend the money for it if it’s not as good as the 7800 Game Dr. or you’ll if I should get it or not thanks for your help.
not really Interested in this, if i wana play the roms to the 7800 games i own, i only do that, then i'll just stick to pc emu but as you say if you want to play your carts on an original sysem, whitch i do too, then i'll just stick to that with svideo threw a retrotink and soon the 4k version!
I love seeing old systems get support like this

Just picked up a 7800 at a garage sale for $1
Nice
I love geeking out by seeing new tech bring retro gaming to another level.
Cool option to play Atari 7800 games.

Good video! Interesting item! Rikki and Vikki classic game for the Atari 7800 system! Nice, that they include it with the Mulitcart!
If only there was an FPGA Atari 7800...

Has the video distortion towards the bottom of the screen on 2600 games been resolved, or is this still an issue? Thanks for the great video John.

CRAP! This is AWESOME!
I Need one for MY OG 7800!
Awesome device for an awesome system. Thanks for the video, John!
Thanks for watching!
Nice job John. SAG finally had some in stock and my order is in! Pretty excited to give this a go.

That does look amazing. Just wish it wasn't so pricey.
Spectacular pieces of electronics as always mr John
Many thanks!
John, does the Pokey support make Ballblazer playable?
Great times for retro gamers! ;-)
Indeed!
Never see much from the 7800 in the retro gaming scene.
Funktioniert das auch beim atari 2600+
Very cool video. Thx! The narrator's voice sounds a lot like John C. Reilly. 🤔

Damn, its out of stock. I've been looking for something like this.
How do I buy a copy of that version of Donkey Kong that I can put on my 7800 Game Drive?
Wonder how different the gaming market would have been if Atari won
Hi there John hey can you tell me where can I get the Donkey Kong version that you were playing? I cannot seem to find it. Thanks for your help. Also, may I ask how much for a copy of your games thanks.
I sell my games at expos typically. 3 of my 2600 games are on the VCS. Plan to offer on itch.io eventually.
Should used 3 button Genesis controller 6 button overkill 😂
Do you have the HD Retrovision cable connected directly to your tv / monitor, or into a scaler like a retrotink?
Retrotink 5x
Hi,
Great news !
Does it work 100 % with the scart rgb 7800 atari french version ?
Please let me know ..
So it don't play pitfall 2 2600?
What output does cart do svideo or HDMI?
Component
@@johnhancockretro ah nice but most modern tv don't have that yrg input
Does it works with the 2600+?
Finally !
this seems so cool 🥺
Will this work on the atari 2600+
Who mods your systems? And can they do out of state orders?
Ivory Tower Collections, and yes

Unknown about the harmony cart. Many think it won’t work but just speculation at this time.
I just got the 2600+. Here is hoping with the new firmware updates that it might? Any news?

Was the cartridge that was formally known as concerto and never came out?
It came out after being delayed a long time. erstwhile-technologies-7800.square.site/product/concerto-cartridge/5?cs=true&cst=custom
@@johnhancockretro that's news to me, I never saw news of it coming out because I gave up on it long after I had a Atari 7800.
Are they going to offer one for Atari 5200?
No idea
Not that I'm aware of, but Idk why they'd bother.. The Atarimax - Ultimate SD cart already does a fantastic job, playing just about everything.
CC2 forever!!
Hmm....tempting. It's hard to justify spending $160 on this. Someone please convince me. :)
I would buy it. It's a LOT less expensive than buying an entire library and if space is an issue.
I want to buy it but my rational voice is saying buy the PC version of Rikki & Vikki and call it a night
The homebrew games for the Atari 7800 are great.
It's 2600 compatible, so you're paying $80 apiece for two drives.
Back bit?
Hey John, have you tried Antstream on Xbox yet?
I have not, cool it’s on there

Dragonfly has some additional options, such as dual pokey but I don’t think most people would need both.
2600+ compatibility please !!
Dang, I just dropped $220 on 7800 games from AtariAge so this will have to wait for a while.
So am I to understand that these games are already built into this thing without having to preload them myself
Nope, you have to add them.
