The tutorial did say to, but I think it really meant "make sure they aren't starving". Still, I'm going to blame that part on the tutorial being unclear. Can't blame NL for actually following a tutorial thing even if it's probably incorrect.
It’s so hard to keep up with what info is a tutorial, twitch chat, or whatever source. I actually thought giving soup before an expedition was a way to “game” the mechanics somehow
NL, fatigue is a status effect that occurs when a family member has been in the shelter for more than 20 days, it doesn't affect gameplay at all and it makes the family member look slightly tired and dirty.
Considering how many graffiti bits show up on the wall anyway and the fact the objective never gets marked as failed, the hand is an unnoticeable mechanic.
There's validity to that. At the same time, it's somewhat encouraged in the text when they interact with him, but NL just skims the text and guesses. Also, dozens of people have made comments on the videos, on Twitter, and on Reddit. I'm not complaining, I genuinely find it amusing. That's why I watch him.
2:36 Suitcase does nothing on scavenges :') I know he'll see this one day. 19:53 One might think it does something, but it actually just lets you bring more items! A good tell for this is that it shows more open hands when you equip it.
Checometer It shows that you can bring MORE with you, doesn't inherently mean you can bring more back. And with the sample size of the episodes so far where he consistently brings out the suitcase and gets nothing extra on expeditions
Hey NL, just so you know the merrymen do not count food and water towards how rich you are, so if you are low on resources they will usually give 1 or 2 items.
Wonder if it counts the food/water as a stack. So if you have at least 1 full food/water it counts as having an item but if you have none or an opened one it won't count.
protip: if you plan on having both adults, never play as dolores. The only functional difference between the parents is that dolores takes up two slots and ted takes three.
@@calixer9819 He said 'If you plan on having both adults...'. If you do take both the only things that matter are at the very start when you pick things up. An Dolores seems to be worse there.
I love the transformation you've had, going through these episodes. In episode 1 you role-played a loving father. In episode 10, dad's a resource and daughter isn't even worth the air she breathes.
Pancake does not ever come back once you let Sharikov in. Also if you use the rifle in 3rd event (after flashlight and soup can) you scare him away. You need to use the map or the axe.
Hey NL, you can not have both the cat and the dog, if you get the cat it during the dog quest line the quest line stops, if you get the cat after you have the dog ...I let you figure that out if it happens.
So... if you are learning one thing actionable an episode please make it this: The Briefcase is only useful if you take more than one item with it on an expedition. Almost every other item creates the chance of an event on each expedition you take them on to find additional supplies.
@@bobjoe9428 if you're the only one, it stops people from taking over the shelter. In general misc items let you get extra stuff on your way back. Different things have chance of getting different things. Map shortens time, harmonica can give random items, other stuff has specific events that can give specific things but i can't remember them all. Not sure if the padlock has it's own events or if it just stops the shelter being raided while you're away though.
If you choose nothing for the tunnel event, they still go in empty handed. That made Ted insane. Other nice things to know: If you send people on expeditions with the map they have higher likely hood of returning with better things, and the axe or gun will increase their chance of making it home safely. If you can get Pancake fully on your side, he's incredibly helpful for expeditions and mental health. Timmy is the best normal expeditioner but is very frail, Ted is (supposedly) the most resilient so he'll last longer without food water or meds than the others, MJ is a huge double edged sword as she has plenty of events that are super helpful like the mutant but can cause huge strife for the rest of the family as well. I don't actually know what Dolores' pro is, but I do know she requires food and water more frequently than the others. I think she might be beneficial for their sanity but that's just a guess. Finally, don't sleep on the handbook. Most every event it's involved with is super helpful if it doesn't break, it's surprisingly universally useful and a lot of its events lead to getting extra supplies. Good luck, im loving this series!
Please don't use Sharikov ever. If you grab him before pancake then you'll never get pancake for that run. Also the doggo can grab you supplies from time to time if you complete his quest line AND also defend against a single raider attack. Can a cat do that? DIDN'T THINK SO.
I think it feels this way because by reading the comments, we learn more new things faster than backlog-NL can. He's improving and learning new things, but not as quickly as the viewer is.
man i haven't played this game in years. thank you northernlion for bringing it up again, i realize how fun it is again and how many possibilities there are
Egg daddy you need to stop raiding the neighborhood/retirement home if you want the twins to help you, they won't come back if you're hostile towards the neighborhood (signified by the red hand above the rifle's mount
Honestly love this series and hope this sticks around for a while longer Edit. Oh yeah and what happens if you dont go to fhe trapdoor in time when the bimbs fall?
NL in the early days, there's a chance for the door knocking to lead to family members you left behind. Just a heads up even though you prefer having less mouths to feed~ Also I saw in n a previous comment that the suitcase just offers you more space to CARRY supplies (from stuff you already have) on expeditions, it doesn't actually lead to you being able to gather more on the expedition itself. p.s. Love the series!
Will he ever bother realizing that the Suitcase just means you can *take* more stuff with you into the wastes, not that you *get* more stuff? Also if you raid people and get the bloody handprint the Twins basically abandon you.
Be NL: never send Dolores to do anything, let her be the last survivor as a result, infer from that misguided assumption that she's strong, now don't send her to do anything because she's strong and valuable.
I know it's probably useless to comment here, especially because of the "backlog routine" that Ryan usually do, but if you get Sharikov, you automatically cancel the "Pancake events". Heck, you automatically cancel the whole Pancake, since the cat just kicks Pancake out. If you want to have Pancake, you have to ignore Sharikov. Also days 5 and 8 from second run probably were Dolores and Mary Jane. You killed them... twice.
Also, Ryan, you only really need the first aid kit for "hurting" situations. You can heal illness simply by give food and water to the ill for 3 to 5 days.
Same to be honest. I don't HATE it but I also am a little confused by the fervent love for it. It's an occasionally funny but always infuriating watch.
The egg is still feeding them before sending them out in the wastelands. He sure loves to add a bit of a role play element. Spicy
I actually kinda like it
@@icp7201 his survival chances sure don't

a year later in his more recent run, he did it again. waiting for a 2023 playthrough bu watching 2 and 1 year old uploads
NL when there’s early knocks on the door, it could mean that somebody you left behind survived the bomb and came back
Why do you think he never answers 🌝
NL, fatigue is a status effect that occurs when a family member has been in the shelter for more than 20 days, it doesn't affect gameplay at all and it makes the family member look slightly tired and dirty.
doesnt get his daugther: we are missing some stuff dont get me wrongXD
Looking for the twins, still raiding his neighbors, even when he's well ahead in supplies.
NL, never change.
I don't think I would have figured that out on my own tbh

its pretty difficult to notice what items do on scavenges :(
Aishiteru Yo I would agree.
He wont know how things work for atleast 25+ episodes. Becuase he doesnt read comments... You have to tell him in a stream.
"A good tell for this is that it shows more open hands when you equip it."
That is not a good tell in the slightest.

Dolores also has the best mental strength. She takes the longest to go crazy and otherwise eats less than Ted

Love it how the tank changes along with the progress we're making with that thing

Ted looked into the tunnel, and witnessed vietnam right before his eyes. That's what drove him crazy.

I love how he's like having fewer people means they eat less. But then doesn't grab any soup to feed them.
Cool, a New Ending!
