I don't understand why people complain about how expensive this method is, I understand that it's not as economical as buying a palette for 50$ but you have to understand its customizable, you will for sure use every shade bc you get to pick it out yourself! To me that's the most practical investment there is. Even my favorite palette has at least 2 shades I don't care for and never use. Being able to hand pick shades for an ideal palette is worth 150-60$ to me. But to each their own I guess.
+Angie Rentmeester exactly!! it's so awesome to hear that from someone else I felt like I was alone. I mean...they end up spending that amount of money anyways on various palettes getting the colors they want.
+Amber Shara Girl please I built TWO custom MAC palettes & years ago when they were more expensive & those are my most loved & most used palettes of all time! And I have enough shadows & palettes for two small countries & several lifetimes lol & yes I completely agree !! Custom palettes are awesome because you choose your own colors & colors you know you will absolutely love & use !! My MAC palettes are truly my most loved ! Xoxoxo
I feel the same way and it's the reason I sold all my palettes and only buy pans now. I got tired of buying palettes where I wasn't using all the shades, that to me is more wasteful then slowly filling a custom palette for whatever brand it may be.
Yup I agree, yes it is quite a bit more expensive but I use every single shadow in my mac palette because I picked them myself. The quality is also amazing and they are gonna last forever haha, totally worth it

Great video! The gold-bronzy color you depotted from the second row is Amber Lights!!!! I'd recognize it anywhere its my holy grail eye shadow!

The gold you have in the middle of the palette looks like Amber Lights. It's a really pretty one shadow eyelid color. I use it on my lazy days.
My favorite MAC shadows are: Vanilla, Bamboo, Soft Brown. Kid, and Charcoal Brown (Charcoal Brown is my perfect eyebrow color for my black Japanese hair... that is now partially pink). I also use Cork in my eyebrows when my hair is lighter in the brown shades.

When I first got into makeup, I was all about MAC. People everywhere said it was the best. Now I see a lot of indie brands giving MAC some competition. Personally, I prefer Z palettes to theirs and Makeup Geek shadows.
It also irks me how they handle their limited edition collections so I just stopped bothering with those.
They do have some good permanent products though :)

Nordstrom has several exclusive MAC palettes right now. The neutral one is gorgeous. You save quite a bit too-they are $85. Filling a palette the traditional way would cost $170!
I personally bought one and was very upset. The quality doesn't seem to be there :( I'd stick with this method
***** I thought something was a bit off, but couldn't quite put my finger on it. ITA-the shadows are not the same quality. Now I know why I had such a hard time blending some of the darker shades.
+Carly Degard The "Nordstrom exclusive Mac palette" lacks quality. However there are 2 other pre-made paletts, Warm Neutral and Cool Neutral. I own the warm version and I love it! 13 out of the 15 shadows are LE, but have the same quality as Mac's permanent line. I can't speak for the Cool version as I don't own it, but from my swatches it's the same permanent shadow quality. Hope this helps (:

I'm not sure if someone else has said this but I checked out Mac recently and if you depot the single shadows you can't take them back to Mac, it has to have the metal pan still in them

i bought an empty mac palette and insert and have filled it with MAC Coppering and Deep Damson and MUG Shimma, Creme Brulee, Peach Smoothie, and Cocoa Bear... it's so pretty to look at... I just need 9 more shadows to fill it all up

I totally have a MAC list and Kid was the third shade I got, and it's amazing! Naked lunch is my favorite though, day time friendly...I have UD sin, and I think it is way to sparkly for office or classroom.

Its funny that I'm only missing a few colors from the MAC permanent collection. I don't have Orche. I haven't purchased any MAC eye shadows in so long. This inspires me to break out my make palette. I do have one neutral palette that I use practically everyday!

You have a beautiful collection of neutral shadows Dani. I have a few mac shadows myself. However here is my thoughts, mac shadows are good BUT makeup geek shadows are just as good for a fraction of the price. I am sure that Marlena has a dupe or at least a close dupe for most of mac shadows. I will order a mac shadow once in awhile but for the most part I will stick with makeup geek. Mac is good but not any better for the price than makeup geek. That's just my opinion. However I did order mac coppering not long ago and I like it a lot. Love you Dani! Your makeup is gorgeous in this video!
I totally agree. My MUG shadow palettes are what I keep going back to. So incredible! Those and my Lorac pro palettes are my fave.

I would recommend the premade MAC palettes at Nordstrom. 4 palettes each has 15 shadows $85/each.

Just a bit of bad news since Dani didn't mention it in the video but MAC has an uncanny horrible habit of discontinuing eye shadow colors & two that I know that have been discontinued are kid & brown script 😩😩😭😑 I built 2 custom MAC palette several years ago & I was lucky enough to have purchased brown script but alas MAC plays with our emotions & discontinued several eye shadow shades 💔 I thought I'd mention this in case some girls were making their lists ....
