It's always disappointing to lose in the national championship game, especially against a team you have previously beaten by three scores. But I still think this Alabama team overachieved given how young and inexperienced they were. All season, Saban was making comments that made it seem like he didn't believe this team had what it takes to win the title, but this game was very much in reach until the very end. The main thing that hurt Alabama all season and killed them in this game was the one-dimensional offense. They could never establish a consistent running game and the passing game really only ran through two receivers, both of whom were missing after the first quarter in this game. Outside of Metchie and Williams, it is really shocking how limited Alabama's talent was at receiver. We first saw that in the Iron Bowl, when Williams went out and the offense started giving us flashbacks to 2004. There were an unbelievable number of drops in this game - I can't remember any game where I've seen more. You can't make those kinds of mistakes against a great defense like Georgia. The portal has resolved some of the off field and locker room issues Alabama had in that position group last year, so hopefully that will combine with more experience to create a better outcome this year. The secondary was another problem all season that was further exacerbated by injuries. Georgia really did a great favor to Alabama by seeming determined to win it on the ground. For some reason, it took their coaching staff 7.5 quarters to realize that pass coverage was the defense's weakness, and that slow response massively hurt Georgia in the SEC championship and nearly cost them the rematch as well. Once they finally put that together, they started moving the ball at will. While 2021 was a rebuilding year for Alabama, almost all of the key pieces returned for 2022. They also added some big names in the transfer portal. 13-2, SEC champion and national runner-up exceeded expectations for 2021, but 15-0 should be the expectation for 2022.
Ya. Coming from a Mississippi State diehard, even yalls rebuilding years have championship potential. Something we will never have. I fully admit I was elated to see Georgia come out on top. But not because I hate Bama. Because I've followed Georgia since the Mark Richt days. Seeing them come so close to the sun and burn up each time, I was just so happy for their players and their fans. Similar to our baseball team in 2021 (we don't talk about this year lol) to see teams come so close and then fall is heartbreaking, so it was really heartwarming to see them finally take it home. But make no mistake, Bama will always be a powerhouse with Saban at the helm. His reputation is well deserved, and he's one of my favorite coaches despite never coaching for MSU. I wish yall luck in 2022. Just not enough to beat us hopefully LMAO.
I said in another comment that Georgia was a better team this year. Bama being a young team isn't an excuse, it's an acknowledgement that they weren't as complete or experienced as Georgia in 2021. I expect these teams to meet again in the SEC championship in 2022, so we'll see how that goes.
To be honest, as a Georgia fan, Alabama fought every second of that last game. It is always a big challenge when these two teams met each other. Great game to both sides

ESPN is awful. Sick of them not even being able to put it in order
@@StephOkoye I have no idea why their highlights do that sometimes. As a video editor, I can say that it would literally take more effort to mess up the order than it does to leave it in order.
The entire state of georgia had a hangover the next morning
damn right 🔴 ⚫️
"Biggest third down in Bryce Young's career."
It's ridiculous how GA can be way better than Alabama so many times and still every game is close or they lose. GA should be dominating them in so many of these past matchups.
Seems more to me that Alabama is clutch and Georgia chokes and is out coached
The injury hurt but u just can’t complain about that forever. This game was lost because no one stepped up and took Jamo or Metchie’s place. This game was lost because our reserve receivers couldn’t make plays when their number was called (cough cough Agiye Hall). But credit to Georgia they had a good team.
It wasn't just the offense, we beat them and they had the number 1 defense
Mad respect to kirby. Man helped up byrce young right after byrce just gave the game away when his own team left him sitting. Go dawgs!
Go Dawgs. F*** the haters
All trash talk aside I'm a georgia fan so I was glad to finally beat the tide this is what it looks like when nfl talent plays each other this game was much closer than what the final score showed I will cherish this win more than the tcu win simply because georgia beat the king of the sport to hit the mountain top as much as other fans hate it I hope to see another Georgia Alabama national championship both of those games were amazing
The swarm took this game over, and by the swarm I mean the defense which had 5, FIVE first round picks in the 2022 NFL draft. So grateful, happy, elated, and overjoyed to beat Alabama. Looking forward to our next beat down on Bama.
So you finally win one and already looking ahead. I would be more more worried about replacing those five 5 stars you lost on defense if you plan on beating bama again
Bama is about to destroy that ass. Let's not get ahead just yet.
GO DAWGS! FINALLY, after 41 years, UGA can call themselves National Champions once again. IT FEELS SO GOOD TO FINALLY BEAT ALABAMA!
We? What position do you play?
@@markwolfshohl6562 WE are those false starts you've seen all year WE are the ones who travel and take over stadiums to give our team the noise advantage! WE are those motherfuckers! GOO Dawgs!

Refs tried desperately to hand this game to Alabama, Georgia wasn’t having it.
Yes, the refs succeeded in doing so in the 2017-18 championship game, but not here.
The Georgia staff helping Bryce up
The Georgia Bulldogs Beat Bama with a 2 Star walk-on Quarter back!! Blazing a Trail for a Back to Back National CHAMPIONSHIPS! Goooooo Dawgs!!! Sic'em!!!
Thank you. so sweet. woof woof.
Beat by a 1-star quarterback and Alabama had crooked referees calling the game. Ala had the top 2 players in college football and lost
stars don’t matter
Not any more 😂
Won by the defense 👏
Former Walk-on. Likes for you all around.
Won by a no star walk-on midget quarterback
My goodness. Who, in their right mind, couldn't love SEC football after watching this? Two dynamic offenses that could only be somewhat stifled by only SEC defenses.🤷♂️
Go Dawgs!!
1st win on Bama 👏👏👏👏👏
#1 team in the nation ☝🏻
Not for long
How in the world do you expect to win by kicking all these field goals, and on top of that, this can't be the best quarterback Bama has to offer? ROLL TIDE...
Think of all the great quarterbacks we've had at Bama, but I'll never understand how Young won the Heisman.
THE GREATEST NATTY IN UGA HISTORY!!!!! GO DAWGS ❤️🖤❤️🖤
I saw numerous plays where Alabama OLinemen had their hands in the face of UGA defenders. Never called. Then UGA does it once, they called it. Refs are always on Bama's side.
Timestamps?
Tears of joy again for the umpteenth time.
In this National Championship game, Georgia out played, out Coached Alabama mainly the second half of the game. And Georgia Bulldogs Won! Even with a lot of bad calls during the first half of the game.
How it taste Bama🤣 I love looking at these highlights! S/O to my DAWGS
im fine with lost. But 2017 will always reign supreme
@@marqkuisphillip2295 georgia held y’all to minimal points and had possession of the ball for over 80% of the game, not to mention some of the most contested and inquisitive referee calls of national championship history.
there’s nothing supreme about luck
@@taternater7495 2017 isn’t luck at all, that’s just blown coverage by the defense, also I’m fine with Georgia winning one since it’s 7-1
This was one of the best games ive seen
That line leap push for the first is rent free
Just so everyone knows Georgia's top 3 receiver's were also out or very very limited. Blaylock, Pickens and Jackson are the receivers I was referring too so you can't say Bama only lost because of those receivers
The fact that UGA won despite the refs shafting them on stetson's "fumble" and Bryce's "throw" is insane.
27-24
33-18😂
Kirby n Saban are the best football coaches with great teams. Of course though, Go Dawgs 🖤❤️🙏🏾💪🏾🏈💯!!!
And at 10:25 of this video Alabama knew they had fucked up….BRING ON THE DAWGS!!!!!
Billingby gave up on the play. Everyone of who as ever played TE and WR know to become a defensive player when over thrown or the ball is intercepted. Go Dawgs indeed…Bama wins it all next year with undefeated record. You heard it here first!
Georgia 💪
They tried their best to give it to Bama but that Dawg D was just too good!🐶🐾🐾🐾
i mean when the 2 best receivers are out that previously cooked that D yeah its gonna be easier to win but injuries are apart of the game
@@Braddt888 9 starting dawgs were out aswell , so the 2 starting receivers isn’t a excuse . And btw look at what’s going on this year ? GA #1 again and bama us where ? 😭
@@matthewmccarthy7509 the 9 people out like 8 of them were bums bama had more than 2 out and what does this year have to do with last year 😂 yall got destroyed when those 2 receivers were in so dont talk
@@Braddt888 bro Jamos was in for like 2 quarters and only had one catch . He wasn’t doing anything anyways .

A program like bama should be able to replace a WR and win. Still had Heisman winner and stout defense
The Night the Dynasty died. RIP Alabama Football
Bama recieving core let them down young was great
if anything this game really showed the lack of depth at receiver for Alabama last season. After Metchie, Williams, and Billingsley there really wasnt anyone else too good
Cope
Uh, that beautiful pass that went right into Kelee Ringo's hand was NOT the receiver's fault.
@@darinwaynec uh that was a last ditch effort at the very end of the game. If you’d watch all the balls the receivers dropped bama would be up by a score
@@No-mx4gw You can believe that.....if it helps you sleep better tonight.
Crazy how the refs kept alabama in this game. Everytime they play, refs extend alabama drives. It's crazy
2024 and it still feels amazing!
Looking back now everybody failed Bryce young. Missed catches dropped touchdowns. Just terrible.
Love the Dawgs
I love watching Alabama vs. georgia. I like Alabama more than georgia
Back to Back, see you in Atlanta this year? Right?
Yea where Georgia hasn't won yet
UGA 33 Alabama 18
Remember alabama beating them 42-24

Alabama used to really enjoy rematches, that is until the rematch with georgia. Not so much now.

GOOOOOO DAWGS !
Watching this 2 years later. I forgot how horrible the refs were. A lot of those calls were quite suspect. Even with all the BS calls the Dawgs still pulled out the W
I have watched this clip many times can’t help but wonder how much Saban paid for the Heisman Trophy
It's not necessarily on Bryce, it was a miscommunication, same thing that happened with the flea flicker, just different situation
Latu OPI on that TD

Sucks Jameson got injured. Gave Georgia a title with that injury.

Alabama had the best defense in that year 🤷🏿♂️
Metchie and Williams were missed Hall dropping that 3rd down catch killed Bama

When Jamison Williams went down in that 2nd qtr, Georgia completely game-changed their defense, bc Alabama had no deep threat(Williams and Metchie were out); that injury was the game-changer Georgia needed to win.....
