Anyone else doing the same this time of the year?

ND2 Soft top Club 6MT, I like my cupholders and have no issue using 20oz cups for my morning coffee. I also find the heater works well enough to drive top down at temps approaching freezing (with a good hat). I have driven through New England winters with snow on the roads, but you must have winter tires all around (not studded, the rubber on studded tires must be harder to hold the studs in place, but you want softer tires for winter grip). I used to just have a set mounted on cheap steel rims that I would swap every season. I don't these days because I have the Brembos and they are harder to find cheap wheels for. I run on all seasons now, but only when the roads are free of snow. I run the all seasons in summer, too. They aren't as grippy but that can offer a bit of fun with the traction control off. But honestly, winter tires are far superior to all seasons in the snow.

They are great cars, no doubt 👍

Don't ignore the used market as these cars are very reliable and run for years. Every generation has been awesome (I'm on my fifth MX5).

I disagree that the RF is the one to get - it isn't really an open car, just a targa top. For the true open air feel you have to have the soft top. And of course unlike the clunky RF roof the soft top can be whipped up or down in couple of seconds using one hand, from the drivers seat, and no complex mechanism to go wrong! Also, the soft top looks a lot better - not like the beetle-backed RF.
But one downside of the MX5 in winter is - it doesn't 'do' snow and ice! The combination of RWD and very light weight is not good in those conditions!

Fair enough. It’s good to have the choice. In my older days now I seem to be becoming more of a targa top fan. Maybe it’s an age thing or maybe I’m just a wuss 🤣🤣
