Can you boil the beans instead of steaming them? also, i see they add the natto-kin to the beans while they are still hot.. Does heat not kill the bacteria?
I thought it was really funny that the US soybeans are referred to as tiny grains just the way it was presented made me laugh. Really cool video and I do wonder what the temperature is during the second stage of fermenting. I really enjoy this stuff any which way and on its own and I'm looking forward to getting my own growing soon!
Very interesting :) after every video I watch about Natto and the more information I find out about how its so healthy for us too,I am so eager to try this stuff out! I'm fascinated how the samurais made Natto back in the day as well!
Flower Child Courtney I don't know: Natto seems like the Japanese version of Vegemite: Loved in a particular country, but hated everywhere in the world. What makes it worse is I'm a vegan. Vegans eat fermented food and I totally detest natto!
Gillian M when I was a little kid I used to hate it, but for some reason (I don't even know) I started liking it and now it's my favorite food. Some people hate it for it's smell, but I think it smells super good.
You see those spores being poured into the hot natto beans? I think that's the secret. It shocks them. Pretty incredible and resilient little critters, aren't they?
It’s one of my favorite things to eat in Japan and it’s good to use when u want to annoy your siblings due to the smell
Love/hate relationship with natto brought me here
Very nice little video! Perfectly informative!

There is only one stage of fermenting: 18 hours at around 40 C. After that, cool to below 10 C to stop the fermentation.
Very tasty. Can you use the culture of fermented beans from a pack that I purchased to ferment a newly soaked batch?
yes

Natto is a top food for health but too slimy, try it with fine manioc flour to change the texture.
Is it my impression or everything that is fermented is tastier and healthier than the raw product, like sauerkraut?
kim chi, super healthy and delicious

It is extremely expensive to order starter and we can't get here locally. Where can I get this bacteria/starter?. And can you breed this bacteria?.
can I get the spores from capsules of probiotic products that say they have LIVE bacillius subtilis spores? The spore powder is not for sale in USA.
Who else from India like me
Hmmm, smell good. Should eat it with rice.
