The use of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers in agriculture has led to concerns about their potential adverse effects on human health, the environment, and ecosystems. Here are some keywords related to the issue of toxins in agriculture:
Pesticides: Chemical substances used to control pests such as insects, weeds, and fungi.
Herbicides: Chemicals used to control unwanted plants or weeds.
Fertilizers: Substances added to soil or crops to promote plant growth and increase yield.
Synthetic chemicals: Man-made chemicals used in agricultural production.
Environmental pollution: Contamination of air, water, and soil by agricultural chemicals.
Soil degradation: Loss of soil fertility and structure due to chemical inputs and erosion.
Water contamination: Pollution of water bodies such as rivers, lakes, and groundwater by agricultural runoff.
Bioaccumulation: Accumulation of toxins in the tissues of organisms as they ingest contaminated food or water.
Biomagnification: Increase in the concentration of toxins in organisms higher up the food chain.
Human health effects: Adverse health effects such as cancer, reproductive issues, and neurological disorders linked to exposure to agricultural toxins.
Endocrine disruption: Interference with hormonal systems in humans and wildlife due to exposure to certain chemicals.
Pesticide drift: Movement of pesticide particles through the air, affecting non-target organisms and neighboring crops.
Resistance: Development of resistance in pests and weeds to pesticides and herbicides due to repeated exposure.
Integrated pest management (IPM): Sustainable approach to pest control that combines biological, cultural, and chemical methods to minimize reliance on pesticides.
Organic farming: Agricultural production system that avoids or limits the use of synthetic chemicals and emphasizes natural methods of pest and weed control.
Regulation: Government oversight and regulation of agricultural chemicals to protect human health and the environment.
Risk assessment: Evaluation of the potential risks and benefits associated with the use of agricultural toxins.
Alternatives: Sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic chemicals, such as crop rotation, cover cropping, and biological pest control.
Public awareness: Education and outreach efforts to inform consumers and farmers about the risks and benefits of agricultural toxins.
Sustainable agriculture: Farming practices that promote environmental stewardship, biodiversity conservation, and long-term food security while minimizing the use of harmful chemicals.
DDT, or Dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane, is a synthetic pesticide that gained widespread use in the mid-20th century for its effectiveness in controlling insect pests, particularly mosquitoes that transmit malaria and other diseases
Endosulfan, a broad-spectrum organochlorine insecticide and acaricide, gained widespread use in agriculture across India for several decades due to its effectiveness in controlling a variety of pests. However, concerns about its adverse effects on human health and the environment emerged over time, leading to a ban on its manufacture, sale, and use in India
Endosulfan exposure has been linked to a range of health problems among residents of Kerala, including neurological disorders, reproductive abnormalities, developmental delays, and various other health issues. Reports of health problems emerged in communities living near cashew plantations where endosulfan was sprayed aerially, with higher rates of health issues observed in areas with greater pesticide exposure.
The effects of endosulfan in Kerala serve as a stark reminder of the risks associated with pesticide use and highlight the importance of precautionary measures, regulatory oversight, and community engagement in pesticide management. The ban on endosulfan and ongoing efforts to address its legacy underscore the need to prioritize human health and environmental sustainability in agricultural practices.

All, need to tell one thing.. pls do a research on organic farming imposed by Srilankan govt before covid.. which made the economy go worse, which is one reason for the downfall .. (Chinese debt, covid are other reasons)..
it’s not practically possible for a growing economy to adopt, but should be taken steps to adapt in phased manner
