  • EDC gear from field watches to OTF knives and MOLLE covered rucksacks clearly demonstrate the demand for military-inspired tactical everyday carry. So in this hands-on guide, we’re focusing on tactical EDC gear where military influence is observable, utility is high, but also where good design principles haven’t fallen by the wayside. In other words, meticulously designed essentials specifically fashioned to have your back in compromising and demanding situations that also won’t look wildly out of place in everyday civilian environments.

This is in my opinion the most accurate and useful video of EDC I have ever seen. It actually have the stuff you really need and use. I know there are a lot of EDC items out there but these ones are top of the line and well explained and they won’t break your budget. Thank you guys.

That lighter and flashlight are two of the last things I'd carry. My lighter, pen, pill bottle, and flashlight are smaller than either of those combined. "Tactical" in an edc scenario shouldn't scream tactical. That case looks like a great addition to my saddlebags. I associate the video, thanks!

The livewire does not have scales. Scales is not a synonym for handle. Scales are attached to the handle. Sometimes simply for decorative purposes. Other times for utility reasons. Like on a full tang knife
Providing both a nicer look than the steel and a more comfortable grip. The livewire and most otf knives do not have scales.

I see a lot of gear that is cool but isn’t useful for me. I’ve carried a lot of stuff as a civilian and even in the military and I’ve always just stripped it down to the basics. Because carrying a lot of shit gets annoying and heavy.

Having enlisted as an Infantryman from 2008 to my medical retirement in 2015, I can tell you from plenty of combat experience that tactical can mean anything from coloring the object black, to just slapping the word tactical in front of the name. TA50 is all garbage and anyone who has done some fighting will tell you that the best tactical products are actually made in the civilian sector. Remember lowest bidder whenever you hear “military grade”. By my second deployment out of 4, everything I used was aftermarket. Thankfully at the time I wasn’t operating under Force Command so I had a little agency when it came to prep before missions or the type of gear I wear. Though for your everyday soldier, most of the gear is shit, not tactical whatsoever. In fact, most of the issued items are the opposite of tactical, the stuff is so terrible, never works when you need it, rips and tears, wears out with little use. Civilian gear is the only stuff I’ll use. I’d rather pay the extra money for a legit plate carrier and plates than use the issued garbage they give us. Belt? Trash. Helmet? Trash. The only thing that was issued to me that was worth a damn, was my woobie.

@@JtPrinceno problem at all, I enlisted at 17 with a waiver in 2008 and I was medically retired in 2015. I had a full left shoulder replacement, lost a rib, a chunk of my neck and pectoral on my right. Shrapnel got lodged in my left knee, then I got shot in the same knee a year later. A few broken bones, and a contusion in my right frontal lobe left me partially brain damaged. I then suffered from massive emotional issues as a result of the brain damage, so all the docs I saw thought it was necessary to medically retire me.

Thanks for the guide. Well done. Everyone is inspired by someone else at some point. I'm a vet, so I've seen it. How many non-US militaries now resemble the US military in their basic appearance? Anyone remember what Warsaw-block militaries wore in the 1980s? Or the evolution of what Russian troops wore in Chechnya and then later in Ukraine? American police departments started wearing military kit a long time ago now. Even within the US military, trends are often begun by 'special operations' communities, but not always. Anyone could and did carry a multitool. During the Iraq war few people even thought of wearing beards, because Iraqi men (in those days) favored mustaches. In Afghanistan, wearing a beard separated cool guys from 'big army' rule followers. Now everyone everywhere wears beards. So...in sum, it's all good. Carry your tools. Wear your kit. Doesn't matter where it came from.

On body working as a farmer in south Africa. Due to the high rate of farm atakes it was good to have a tool that I could use for weapon maintenance in the field. I shot out my Ar and getting a replacement barrel/parts is a nightmare with our lisensing prosedure so I switched to a modernized norenco AK and also switched tools to a letherman wave

Those oakleys look way too tactical imo. The flak xls are way more normal looking. The ones in the video look like range glasses.
Also that pack is too much. Just go with an eberlestock bandit or another one of their edc bags.
