  • Dear Spirit of Math Community,
I would like to wish you a happy new year. As you are likely to know, many schools and universities have already announced that they will be switching to online classes in January. Capacity allowances for many areas in which our campuses reside have been reduced to 50% of capacity for our in-person classes. Furthermore, many of our students travelled outside of Canada this holiday and the COVID numbers have been going up. Over the last 2 weeks, parents have been calling asking what is happening with our in-person classes in January. Many doctors have reached out to me quite concerned about the COVID numbers recommending online classes. Before the holidays, many of our in-person classes had to go online due to positive COVID test results for some our students. We are all very concerned about the safety of our kids and the safety of the adults in the classes and we would like to contribute to the stopping of the spread of COVID. With this all in mind, Spirit of Math will be switching all our in-person classes to online classes for the first 2 weeks in January. We will monitor the situation with the government mandates as they come in. I ask that you please understand that this is a very fluid situation.
Once again, all in-person classes for the first 2 weeks of January will be online. Please note that this is temporary! Our aim is to have the kids back in-person as soon as it is safe to do so and as provincial guidelines permit. Because of the differences in COVID numbers in one area in Canada to another, the principal for your campus will let you know if your campus will be able to go back in-person. Please keep an eye out for their announcement.
To avoid as much disruption as possible during the first 2 weeks of classes in January, we ask that you please try and minimize the number of make-up classes. The disruption of going online will be tough on its own, and we would like to minimize the disruption for all students as much as possible. Also, I wanted to remind you that many classes are already full and finding a make-up class may be difficult.
Once again, thank you all for your support and I sincerely hope that you all get through this winter with as little disruptions as possible.
    Sincerely,
    Kim Langen,
    CEO & Founder,
    Spirit of Math Schools Inc.
