How to restore and stain old woodworm beams

- The old wooden beams in this window are not in good condition as they have been out in the open for a long time without any protection.
We are going to repair these damages and give it a color tone according to the window.
We sand them with coarse sandpaper and we give it with a metal brush.
We see that the typical wood insects have done their thing.
We apply an ointment based on an anticarcoma treatment and a little diesel oil with a brush, insisting on the worst areas so that it penetrates well.
Then we cover the damage with homemade putty, made from sawdust, glue and a little of the previous ointment.
It is applied with a spatula.
Let it dry well and sand again.
Taking into account that they will continue to be out in the open, we put a wax with a little diesel. We see that the color is now more similar to that of the window.
We are going to cover the gap between the beams and the window with a wooden strip.
We cut it and glue it with a contact glue.
We seal the joints with the same homemade putty.
We hide the imperfections and areas of the putty with a wood stain.
Once dry we sand gently.
We again apply another coat of wax with diesel, an operation that we will have to continue repeating at least once a year.
And ready.
Beams like new and totally matching the window.

Me gustaría saber que tratamiento anti carcoma pusiste?? Tengo unas vigas con muuuucha carcoma y necesito tratarlas. Gracias

Si hay mucha carcoma lo más eficiente es la sosa caustica, pero para unas vigas es complicado y peligroso para la salud, hay que protegerse muy bien.
Como alternativa están los líquidos anti carcoma, pero es más complicado hacer desaparecer completamente al insecto.
Quizá lo mejor sea echar un poco de gasoil en un recipiente con liquido anticarcoma y con una jeringuilla echarlo en cada agujero. Y taparlo uno o dos meses con film transparente.
Pasado este tiempo tapar cada agujero con masilla casera, hecha con cola y serrín para reforzar la viga. Puede ver un vídeo de como hacer la masilla en este canal.

Hola desde el Sur de España! Utilizamos cera de madera de toda la vida, así penetra mejor y es más duraderoi

Gracias por ver el vídeo y por el comentario!!! La cera es la normal de madera. Al mezclarlo con el Gasoil hace que no acuda ningún tipo de insecto.

Ok. muchas gracias por el aviso. No le hecho siempre la misma cantidad. Pero debe de estar más cremoso que líquido, para que penetre bien en la madera.
