Fr man I feel like that defines are generation today
I have a 2 year old baby girl…this quote hits hard for me…I’d do anything I have to, to keep her safe even if it meant taking a life…it’s not really a matter of if but WHEN. I’d rather it be during my time than hers while I’m still young and can fight
Exactly 80 years ago. May we never forget what these men went through to ensure our freedom.
I woke up exactly 80 years on at 6:30am for Woody.EXE to lead the tributes that day. He did incredibly well as me and Florya from Come and See recreated D-Day as we were currently fighting in a war with my other Woody I’ve owned for 16 years. The 80th Anniversary of D-Day’s invasion recreation triggered Floyra’s meltdown because he thought Woody was back but luckily I managed to calm him down before the anniversary turned awful
I really wish my generation would understand the sacrifice that was payed for in blood so that they could live in a free nation. I had a WWII veteran thank me for my service and I told him "Why are you thanking me? I haven't done anything. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to live in a free nation. You are the real hero. Not me." I give my full respect to all WWII veterans for a war that really was for the freedom and safety of the world. Any veterans reading this, thank you for paying for my freedom.

Absolutely right. They knew that the very second that gate drops the MG42 was already on them. The German soldiers watching, the gun waiting. Our soldiers thought up funny Nick names for weapons like the Bouncing Betty's and such. But for the MG42 there was nothing funny about that thing. They Nick named it The Bone Saw. Jon Paradero really I think it was Battle of thermopyales, Battle of Longewala, Battle for Tarwa atoll,. Or the stand of the few SAS operatives against hordes of barbarians.
If you look closely it wasn't even a contest. The Germans were tricked into thinking that attck was someplace else. ... Think about what would have happened if that trick did not work. Still the Germans fought like Tigers, the Americans fought like eagles... Nothing to take away from anyone. All were soldiers there... Each fighting as gallantly as they could. But I will give it to the germans. They were surprised, ill prepared, and even then massacred an all out war machine marching against few men with machine guns. .... I guess they were the Leonidas in this. Oh btw check out the stands of 21-Sikhs, or Battle at Longewala. @@nysteven1 The great secular historian John E. Ferling wrote of the American revolution that the events that transpired seemed 'Almost a Miracle'. If you read the book, time and again he recounts the most fantastic luck which befell the young American army and its commanders.
If you are a real student of American military history, you will find that coincidences and chances of fate that seem "almost a miracle" happened to the nation time and time again.
Of course a secular historian cannot write and perhaps cannot even believe that some divine providence and hand of protection was on the nation in times of crisis. It requires an act of faith to go from the evidence of that which seems almost miraculous to believe in an actual miracle. In this nation, you are allowed to think God just stood by and did not intervene. We are blessed for the moment to be a free nation where you may make up your own mind without fear of repercussions. But even someone who doesn't believe in God, if they are being honest, must confess it was almost a miracle.

ForsakenTV read Stalingrad by Antony beever
Executive 1
Nah. Operation Overlord is the GOAT of WW2. A massive, allied beach landing, pushing against the dug in Nazis, in a fight to liberate an oppressed Western Europe. All the Russians did was defend their own country after being betrayed by the Nazis (they helped the Nazis invade Poland ffs), and being saved by winter. When they were on the offensive, the Russians annexed every nation in their path. They didn't free anyone, like the US, UK, etc did.
Collin most of what you said was wrong, soviets and nazis were never allies, that’s like saying Russia and the U.S are allies because they both fight isis, and you can think whatever you want but when operation bagration happened in the east 2 weeks after overlord the German high command was far more worried about that than overlord I suggest you read Stalingrad by Antony beeever, and operation Barbarossa by David stahel so you can learn
It's amazing how he edited the speech so it is shortened but sounds completely natural and like no one touched it
When I watch this, I miss my great grand father, he told me that he don't want to fight the American at the Normandy beach because he was afraid, when he saw the American, he thought to himself that the war will over soon.

my great grandfather was in the canadian air force i dont what regiment he was in, i never had the honour of meeting him
You know you can get his record right? He’s your family after all

GrizzlyBerr fuck British they never fought the war they only send Indian soldiers to fight the wars for them
When my great grand pa said when he steped the beaches with the rest of Easy company he thought ” No matter were you were from , what flags you beared it didn't as long as you loved freedom and you were willing to fight for it."
it gets dark when you know those men that died for us didn't make it back home to their family, they gave their tommorow for our today
darker when the us had knowledge of an imminent attack

I am by no means a Democrat, but FDR was an excellent war President.
What's wrong with being a democrat?
Cameron Hammer Nothing, he was just saying he isn't. Chill your ass out.
What do I need to chill? I am not raging
Cameron Hammer
You responded to Justin as though he had said there was something wrong with being a Democrat which he did not. Brandon probably assumed you were saying that indignantly.
I myself am a Conservative but agree that FDR was a great war time president as well as a fantastic orator.
Cameron Hammer What's wrong with it? The democrats of today are to far left. Willing to give up freedoms for "fairness" Besides that I encourage all Americas to not pick a side. Picking a side divides us and weakens the People.
God was with us then and God is with us now from poor to rich
Something so precious as freedom comes at heavy price . . . The price of a human life
I think people forget how precious freedom is
For all that have served and all that are serving
Thank you for your Service and god bless

People in 2021 dont know a clue about cruelty or hard work they dont know what these veterans have been through they take everything for granted and dont appreciate the millions of sacrifices made for a free nation people died just for a country we are free because of them i wish my generation understood
What these soldiers did on D-Day should never be forgotten. Visiting the beaches and learning about the sheer mass of people and what they had to do is incredible. One of the major sacrifices made to protect us all from fascism and liberate those trampled under it's foot. It was the first major turning point that led to pushing back the Nazis on the western front. There are a lot of people who bitch and moan about the USA for whatever reason but without their mass resources none of this or the Soviet turnaround against the Germans would have been possible. They provided not just a massive military might but also supplies and weapons to the British and Soviets that helped them push back.
Viper Venum Ireland was neutral during the war.
Disrespectful pricks... Remembering France for nothing but pushing aside the poles who fought so violently...
The US soldiers on Juno didn't suffer many losses, but the soldiers on normandy went through their own living hell.
Mace Windu without the USA the allied nations would have failed including the soviets
That's a selfish belief, I'm American, but our allies laid down equal sacrifice.
I was in Normandie this year. I have had the honour to know and say thank you to all the veterans remailed.
NEVER FORGET!!

JUNE 6TH guys and the world needs us more then ever.
The anniversary of D-Day. This is the day that thousands of the best and brightest of our loved ones stormed the beaches of Normandy to give their blood, sweat, and lives to destroy the Nazi war machine. When i feel lost, their stories give me guidance. When i feel fear, their sacrifice gives me courage. When i feel weak, they remind me to be steadfast.
As of late, too many people have forgotten what it means to be a true American, and the honor that is to die so that another can live free. We have forgotten to respect each others differences, and that true Americans fight to the death for each others right to speak their beliefs.
We can never repay the sacrifices they made for us, however, we can honor them by remembering the way they lived their lives and when the day comes where we must stand to protect our freedom we will do so just as they did, and die proudly if necessary. We are not special. Freedom is paid for with righteous blood, and we must never forget that.
I will never forget, and i will never quit.
Pleas join with me June 6th and honor the survivors and the fallen of WWII.
To the American fighting man. Our brother's should never be forgotten. Thank you for helping to give me the razor-sharp moral compass that I have today.
Please share if you are with me on this.
Yeah and too many Americans have also forgotten what FDRs New Deal was and that it kept the financial system stable for 50 years until they dismantled it starting with Reagan. And if FDR was alive today and ran for president FoxNews would call him a communist. There’s a lot we’ve forgotten there champ.
Russians won this war and lost 27millions
“Some will never return. Embrace these, father, and receive them Thy heroic servants into Thy kingdom”.
Gives me the chills every time I watch. 😬
Very moving prayer from FDR
They shall never grow old nor be forgotten. My generation has though no respect I will never I will always remember what they did for us. The sun shall never set upon them nor there graves lest we forget
