I remember starting my RZs on cool mornings in the San Fernando Valley in the 1980s. From a cold start they would smoke and sing beautifully. Most gorgeous sight and sounds and smells came out of that ass end of those toomey and spec Il chambers from cold starts. Great memories riding with no helmets and six other two strokes terrorizing Los Angeles in the 80s.
I had a loan of one this year model for 3 months, god they're addictive, real giant killers up to 125mph at the time, still the best handling thing i've ever ridden to this day..
You didn't need to use the ignition key to start them up just uncouple the ignition switch block connectors and she'd fire straight up,had some fun with that...
Im in Canada and have a '85 tzr 250 1kt. I see stats everywhere saying '86 was the first year too but maybe in Japan they had made one in '85? ive always wondered
I see you live in Ottawa? I was born there :) great city, im now half way between Ottawa and Toronto. Thats a nice 350 you have, my dad still has his RD 350 from his childhood undergoing restoration. As well as a RG250 with an RZ 350 engine;) 30 mil carbs
no 86-87 that's it I don't no what part Canada you live but in Ontario o Toronto etcetc only seen that bike for 1 or 2 years just like tdr 2 years 89 and 90 the tzr 86-87 then it was gone
eh sry for the late reply i didnt see this in my inbox. Me and my dad mainly use ebay.ca Old Parts Shop is the name of the guys store there. If he doesnt have what we need then we go with Yamaha Canada.
Not trying to be mean, but your bike sounds like it has a ticking problem. I got a 1989 Yamaha FZR 600 that I pulled the carbs and valves on. You might want to check out your valve clearances to see if you can get rid of that ticking noise.
well... it does.. sort of ha ha in the exhast , but its not the same kind i know....;-) it sounds great tho. mine isnt stock ,just looks like it is and the noise, OOooh
I am 54 now, I had one in 1988 so much fun memories. The things you do when you were 20 and have this bike. It was crazyfun.

Greath sound!
2 stroke has lubricating oil in the fuel, so it exists the exhaust as well.

Umm, there is no mistake. The TZR 250 was marketed from 1986-1996 world wide. We in Canada had the TZR from 86-92.

Bike doesn't have valves.... its a two stroke.
Might be a 6 year ago comment but that motor is reed valve induction it also uses "power Valves" to raise and lower the exhaust ports.
