No sequence that I know of. The shifter can be difficult if the tractor is on an incline. Have you looked at the mechanism to see if there is an issue with the linkage (rusted, bound up, stick etc)?

Nice rig Kyle. that cab looks way nicer than the 3R series cabs. That auto hitch is pretty neat.
Garden Tractors I am pretty sure the cab on the 3 family is the same cab on the 4 family, just the 4r tractor is bigger. They are really nice tho.
