I hope Canadian Pacific spares an 80MAC for preservation, even if it ends up missing a few parts. CRHS hoped to save one from Progress Rail but Progress Rail had none of it. Having to save a Conrail Cadillac from Canadian Pacific was the 2nd to first thing CRHS wanted to see happen, basically their backup plan. That was filmed back when CRHS was still trying to talk Progress Rail into sparing an SD80MAC, and still not at the status of having to turn to Canadian Pacific. Well now CRHS is.
They were classified as SD90MAC-H by Union Pacific but were retired and sold back to EMD. However some of the units got a second chance as Australian exports.
Watching this video again it's cool to see the green mercury vapor lights still running outside the shops, like CP's SD40-2s their time is coming to an end.
6:56 Ive seen that one irl a few year back. It was leading a coal train I believe all 80mac power. 3 up front, and 3 in the rear.

I sure miss the SD80MACs
Fun fact: there was such a thing as a SD89MAC. I think it's the only Special duty Locomotive that doesn't have any surviving examples.
Yep, onky a couple were built. love those units

Actually, the only SD89MAC still survives in use as a test bed

Wow you see many engines that are new
I hope one of the CP-owned SD80MACs gets preserved (considering that PRLX SHAMEFULLY scrapped their SD80MACs despite preservation efforts)
One of them should go to the CRHS
I wish that the sd80MACs wern't part donors and instead actually used in service on CP . Great catches! Like!
Thanks! Yeah, I do too.
Ding dong it's the Avon Lady.
Hey man, are these still here? If so I’d literally fly out from NY to see them again one last time...
Yeah, the 80MACs are still here, won’t be moving anytime soon
Still visible? I’ll drop by early next year!!!
nice intro
Thanks! (Shorter one next vid by the way)
Bruh really Private Eyes intro? Me likely da 80macs
I gotta, H&O is my favourite band
Too bad the SD80MACs are ending like this. Luckily Progress Rail owns a few SD80MACs which are instead running ins rad of being scrapped.
Yeah, it's sad to see them going out like this instead of as new engines on CP.
