@Technicalgarage25 I need parts necessary for overhauling that engine, bringing to impeccable performance. What do I need and where can I find those parts. I'm in South Africa 🇿🇦
I admire the full team work , I dont want to be critical of the work but i have seen a few short cuts during the assembly of the Engine , personally I would have replaced the oil pump , bearings for the camshaft , and a new thermostat , checked Fuel injectors , and give some attention to the Fly wheel , Overall Great Team work , Just me going that extra mile to have the final job more Reliable for hard work , ? maybe you might be working on a tight buget with the owner of the Truck , Over All Good working Team of Men.
They cut as many corners as they can, they don't make much money. They think its cheaper to cut corners & hope it lasts 6 months to a year, rather than spend a little extra money now & see it go several more years!
The front/rear main bearing caps, side seals should be felt and oiled, not using cotton or string, have you guys read the Bedford engine repair manual at all ?
The felt blocks are supposed to be soaked in aviation sealant then compressed. The process of using cotton string is probably just as effective. These engines do not typically do a lot of miles between overhauls anyway. Not like modern engines. We never got more than a hundred and fifty thousand kilometers on any Bedford rebuild, 300 petrol, 330, 466 or 500 diesel. They just did not have the longevity of Japanese or modern US or European engines....by which time the seals were ready for replacement too.
@@franknsnodge Having worked at a dealership for years during my apprenticeship, the genuine rebuild kits came with felt type preformed inserts, to be soaked in the engine oil then tapped/compressed equally either side of the cap, usually took around 4-5 of the felt blocks to complete it, no dry or semi setting adhesive was ever used.
@@MicskiDK @31:50 mounted below the injector pump, to left of the main fuel filter housing as shown in the video, hope this helps ? .... It is the paper element type, inside a metal canister, held on by a single bolt, from below.
I was impressed - right up to the point the man was leaning over the running engine with his clothing flapping around the fan. Then I had to stop watching.
@@Technicalgarage25 we do daily work in the US too. We still take precautions, accidents can happen to all of us. We have mechanics that have been doing the work these guys are for just as many years or longer. When you get too confident & don't take safety precautions is when people get hurt. To say & think they don't need to use safety precautions because it's their daily work is very stupid & extremely dangerous.
@@Technicalgarage25 You should have fitted the correct main bearings of the right size to the crank, not take up the bearing nip using foil, which should have been measured before you install the crank shaft.
Very Good Geo 💞
not only is this engine well oiled but all the guys working on this make up one well oiled machine. I love watching these Pakistani mechanics at work.

Why why why did he put thin plastic or foil behind all the main bearing caps?
The crank was loose so I put the sheet
There is a risk of breaking if the crank is sized
