    Super helpful tutorial - Thank you very much! I`ve seen some comments here with the issue, that the export from AE is too bright. I had the same problem and come to following solution: 1. View -> Use Display Color Management (Which is off by default). Now you see what you get in your AE View. 2. If you want to use a LUT File you have to do it similar like using Magic Bullet Looks. a) color profile (Working Space to sRGB (or Rec.709) b) Lut File c) color profile sRGB (or Rec709) to Working Space. I can`t give any guarantee for correctness but I hope it helps you guys

    Thank you for making all these videos!!! For the Depth of Field AOV. If you want to see the pass in the Redshift Render View select the Z Depth AOV and change "Depth Mode" from Z to Z Normalized. Boom you can see it now. I don't know if Z Normalized is used in compositing however. Or how it's used.

    • @lionelvicidomini6051
      @lionelvicidomini6051 3 года назад

      Exactly. You can totally use the normalized Z in compositing, but you lose the precision of the 32bits workflow. Though that's not such a big deal if you don't mess too much with the gradient afterwards. The results will be still very good. Working in 32bits allow you to set the point of focus and the DOF very freely, that's the main advantage.

      I would look into "use color display management". All of this gets very confusing especially when you have to render and send if off to Flame. I think "Use Display Color Management" is supposed to be off from your initial build that way there isn't any surprises on final render. But I am not 100% sure.

The only question I do have is how to add a post process AOV, specifically the bloom effect. It was the main reason I came to watch this video. It was mentioned at the beginning, then never brought up again which is a shame. From doing a little research, I've discovered there is no post processing AOV (unless I've been misinformed), so I'd like to know how to add it if anyone happens to know? I've been searching for the answer on and off for weeks now and can't find the solution anywhere.

      Hello there !
      1 - Because I was using automatic sampling, introduced since 3.0.13, which does the sampling job for you. You just have to tweak one single parameter, the "adaptative error threshold"
      2 - Because I didn't have much time during the webinar. But, yes, you use progressive mode to do the bulk of lighting, material and so one, and then work on the details in bucket mode because it's more precise
      3 - There is the native camera lens blur, but the results are pretty terrible. The closest would be Fast Bokeh Pro which is very good for its price

      You have the answer in the RS documentation :
      docs.redshift3d.com/display/RSDOCS/Integrated+AOVs?product=cinema4d#IntegratedAOVs-Shadows
      "The Shadows AOV is a raw AOV that outputs shadow information cast by objects as white. Please note that it won't highlight pixels that are in shadow because of the pixel's normal pointing away from the light.
      How to use:
      Multiply the Diffuse Filter AOV by the Shadows AOV. Add the result to the Diffuse Lighting AOV. Now you can control the final intensity of the shadows."

My GI, Reflections, Spec and diffuse layers are set up identical to how you have it set up here. Blending Modes also identical. Yet, they do NOT match the RGB layer. I would imagine that no matter what errors in color space workflow I may have, they should still at least match each other since they share the same settings... Any ideas why they dont? Is there a resource that provides an up to date workflow between AE and C4D? I feel like Im constantly scouring through outdated videos and crossing my fingers that the method used still works and in this case, it seems to not work...

    • @lionelvicidomini6051
      @lionelvicidomini6051 3 года назад +1

      You need to turn back on Post FX and in the AOV to output a Beauty pass. The Beauty pass won't have any PostFX applied to it. In After Effects or elsewhere, use "difference" blending mode to substract the PostFX effect from the final composite. This way you'll have your PostFX effect as a separate layer that you can control.

Changing the blending mode is not giving the out put I wanted. That I can't see the Depth map is kinda flustrating. Believing in god and making sure after 8 hours of rendering it would be nice to see in RV.
