What do you think about these books not having a black back on each page? Does it bother you when your pencils/markers bleed through to the back of the page?

I have flip-flopped a little on the black backing in the printed books. I felt the ink backings made the pictures seem a little dingier, especially when markers are used which can make the paper a little more see-through. But I have come to find the ink backings actually make the paper a little heftier, which is really nice for colored pencils on the Amazon paper, so now I do prefer when a book has them. However, I always put a piece of cardstock directly behind the current page I am coloring whether there is an ink backing or not, or whether I am using colored pencils or markers anyway. So I don't think it becomes as much of an issue for me because I'm always going to have that cardstock there, I don't have to think about it. I do think it would detract a little bit from a finished book flip through, if I used a lot of alcohol markers which would show through on the reverse side and would have an uneven, splotchy look side-by-side to the finished page rather than a more even black page across from all the finished works.

Do you get the pdf version with the printed version - or do you have buy them separately?

You do not get the pdf when you buy the amazon books. I do buy the pdfs separately, but I am also a paid member of their club so I get big discounts on the pdf versions (which I don't get on the printed books) and they also give out a free pdf of one of their newer releases to their members every month so I have quite a few of their books in pdf format. I really like the printed books though, which is why I have lots of their books as both a hardcopy and a printable version.

How would you compare the paper quality? Similar to Creative Haven book's paper or Nice Little Town books or Millie Marotta?

These are all the Amazon print-on-demand books, so they are printed on the Amazon paper (like Tatiana Bogema Stolova's Nice Little Town books), so it is a slightly heavier, toothier paper than just standard copy paper. The paper is perfect for colored pencils, and markers and gel pens can be used, though the markers (alcohol and water-based) will bleed through so you need to protect any pages underneath with at least a piece of cardstock. I would say the paper is not suitable for any real water mediums.

@@coloringforeveryone-adultc3525 Thank you for response. Amazon paper is a bit frustrating to work with, I found using a blend of different pencil hardness, layered worked okay.

@@mariankyra6613 A lot of people feel your frustration, and I understand the reasons why. I don't mind it as it is at least a paper with a little tooth and it is better than just copy paper. The main thing about it is that it is a cheap enough paper that it allows the books to be a little less expensive so more people can enjoy them than some of the top end books with the sturdy cardstock paper. I really like when the books are also available as PDFs as that way I can choose my own paper for whatever medium i choose to use.
