The last season of When Calls the Heart was among the most popular cable shows in 2021. Only Yellowstone surpassed it as one of the most-watched cable series of the year. The final episode of the show had everyone anticipating whether there would be season 12 or not.

When Calls the Heart is an American television drama series, inspired by Janette Oke's book of the same name from her Canadian West series, and developed by Michael Landon Jr. The series began airing on the Hallmark Channel in the United States on January 11, 2014,[1] and, in Canada, on April 16, 2014, on Super Channel.[2]
The series originated from a two-hour television movie pilot in October 2013, starring Maggie Grace as young teacher Elizabeth Thatcher and Stephen Amell as Royal North-West Mounted Police officer Wynn Delaney.[3] In the television series Erin Krakow plays the lead role alongside an ensemble cast.
On March 21, 2018, Hallmark renewed the series for a sixth season. The season premiered with a two-hour Christmas special that was broadcast as part of Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas event, and was to continue for a 10-episode run starting in February 2019.[4] However, due to the 2019 college admissions bribery scandal involving Loughlin and her subsequent removal from all Hallmark properties, the season was put on a "retooling" hiatus and resumed in May to conclude in June, with Loughlin's scenes edited out.
When Calls the Heart tells the story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high-society life. She receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town in Western Canada which is located just south of Robb, Alberta. There, life is simple, but often fraught with challenges. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Royal North-West Mounted Police Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing). He believes Thatcher's wealthy father has doomed the lawman's career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate's daughter. Wishing to thrive in this 1910 coal town, Elizabeth must learn the ways of the Canadian frontier.[9]
Abigail Stanton's (Lori Loughlin) husband (the foreman of the mine), her only son, and 45 other miners, were killed in an explosion, due to the mining-company site manager's irresponsible management and lack of due care in his management of the mine. The newly widowed women find their faith tested when they must go to work in the mine to keep a roof over their heads, food on the table, and help pay the wage for the town's teacher.[10] The town of Coal Valley was renamed Hope Valley in first episode of the second season after the coal mine was closed.

This show is written at a sixth grade level...everyone is either all good or all bad, with no messy real life grey areas to confuse people or make them think. And from the comments ("Team Nathan all the way!!!" etc. etc.), that's just about right for its audience.

Writers should make up their mind who Elisabeth winds up with. She is a grown woman not a teenager. It was bad enough when Jack died right after they got married.

Please don’t ruin the story line by bringing Jack back as a character who was falsely identified as deceased. That is not necessary. Elizabeth and Nathan are finally together and happy.

I agree with the others - Nathan and Elizabeth need to be together and happy. Nathan does NOT need to get hurt again. It took forever to FINALLY allow Nathan to end up with Elizabeth and it needs to stay this way. Please don't do anything to mess up Nathan and Elizabeth or you will lose many viewers, including me!

I know a lot of people like Nathan and Elizabeth together but there just isn’t any chemistry there. I’ve seen all his movies and there are a few women he just has no chemistry with, one is Erin Krakow and another is Lacy Chebert (sp). The last episode was sickening watching them together. The kissing scenes looked forced and unnatural. Surely you can do better! 😢
@@karlabaker2520 I actually thought that their chemistry was sizzling hot. This is the Hallmark channel, so you can't be too "expressive". Unless the movies you have seen him in WERE on the hallmark Channel!

He's not coming back. There's a spin-off of WCTH called "When Hope Calls", in which Abigail has a dream where she sees Jack's ghost, in his Mountie uniform, and he asks her to give Elizabeth a message. He may come back in dreams or flashbacks, but he's very much dead. But I do wanna know what Mountie Hargraves is gonna tell her; maybe they're just now finding his body, his pension ran out, he's being awarded a medal, Nathan has more to do with his death than he told Elizabeth, anything like that? The only thing that's certain, is Jack is dead.

OMG!!! It's high time Nathan and Elizabeth are together. Elizabeth has grown and matured during the course of the show. Unfortunately, Jack passed, which was such a beautiful love story!!!! And now that Lucas has become governor, he and Elizabeth have FINALLY moved on, please let Nathan and Elizabeth be together!!!!!
The relationship between Nathan and Elizabeth took much too long to develop, it has become just a formality at this point, there is no passion between them. Elizabeth is no longer my favorite character, her indecisiveness and melancholic behaviour is getting old, she doesn't deserve Nathan or Lucas after playing fiddle with their hearts. The passion between Elizabeth and Jack was unparalleled. I now watch it for the other of characters. Bring back Abigail all ready, want to see her relationship with Henry blossom! I love Mei Su and Mike! Such an endearing couple.

I'd love for Lori to come back as Abigail, I loved that character. Henry Gowen did visit her at the end of season 10, so who knows? Unfortunately though, Jack is dead, the showrunner confirmed it.

Did Jack get found in the Land slide and he did not know who he was he lost his memory. Then over time it comes back to him, this is a better way to bring him back to life. This makes a better way to understand if he comes back in When Calls The Heart

I am definitely team LUCAS. There's so much love being portrayed in the relationship between Lucas and Elizabeth. With Lucas, Elizabeth had the best of her 2 'worlds' (Hamilton and HV) together.

I just started watching WCTH this year and have had to catch up on the seasons. But I have to say I think there was more chemistry between Jack and Elizabeth then Lucas or Nathan. I'm not really pro Lucas or Nathan yet. As much as I would love to see Elizabeth back with Jack, it has been years since his death. I'll just wait and see what season 12 holds.
