    Our Evaporator Fan was making terrible noises with the temperature fluctuating in the fridge section. I removed the unit and found the grommet on the shaft side had partly disintegrated with bits falling into the fan shaft dome that rubbed on the shaft collar inside. I used a safety pin, a wire brush for car detailing and an X-acto knife to remove dozens of bits from inside the dome. That took 20 minutes. The rear grommet was OK, so I swapped front to rear grommets & reassembled everything. The fridge is now back to running without much perceptible noise of any kind and the temperature is stable again.

    Hello technical colleague, according to the general electric manual the fans between the red and white wire measure between 1.5K ohms and 3k ohms, that replacement measures how much it measures between the red and white wire 1.k ohms at 3k ohms or measures 9k ohms

    Have a question if my freezer is not getting cold and same with my fridge it’s sitting at 47 and freezer at 10 f atm would this mean the evaporator fan would need to be replaced?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  Месяц назад

      If neither section is getting cold you will need to check to see if the compressor is coming on. If it's not you will need to test for power at the compressor, if you have power there and it's not coming on then you will need to replace the compressor.

    I sprayed my evaporator fan motor with silicone lubricant. It worked for about 3 weeks and now it's doing the same thing. I took it apart again just to get the part number for replacement. I think I am going to do it right this time.

      We do not do a lot of trouble shooting in our videos, they are more about how to change the part. Of course anyone working on the appliance would have do the troubleshooting and testing of the part as needed.

    My problem is the plug end in the fridge. I can’t see how to get to it 😔. One of the contacts corroded and came out with the plug.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  10 дней назад

      If it's the plug that goes into the unit that is damaged, that is not a replaceable part. You could check with an electrician or a technician to see if the wiring itself can be repaired, but the manufacturer doesn't provide a part number for that interior wiring.

    • @JoseRodriguez-uj5gr
      @JoseRodriguez-uj5gr 7 дней назад

      @ thanks for getting back with me. I fixed it. I cut the plastic and insulation around the plug and pulled just enough wiring out. Then I cut off both plugs and connected the wires directly. If I could change something, it would be to add a new plug instead of wiring the fan directly. If I get a chance I will make a video and upload it, but I probably won’t have the time.

    Hope someone have any ideas. Found the evaporator fan no working, but everything else seems to be functioning(compressor, condenser fan etc....). Ordered 3 different fans off Amazon(non OEM), but after plugging the harness in, none of the replacement fans are working. What are the chances of all 3 fans not functioning? Thinking it might be the motherboard. Anyone has a troubleshooting technique for this, i.e. which wires to test for resistance(red, yellow, white, blue), what readings should I be getting? And which pins to test going into the mother board to verify that I am not getting any voltage from motherboard? On the pins to which evaporator fan harness is connected I get all kind of voltage (yellow & white 10.59V),(red & white 13.5V), (red &yellow Ov), (blue& yellow 9.57v)? Thanks in advance

    I think the average bloke who comes here has the smarts to be able to test the motor so why not show that too? The resistance of my fan is 1.5k but trying to run it off a 9v battery only works if I manually rotate the fan first. Perhaps the 9v battery can't supply enough initial current. When the fan was connected to fridge it also seemed to need help when rotating so perhaps indeed it's a bad fan - Pansonic 3.4w 9.75v dc.
