It was quite a motley crew for the U.S. Veterans like Rapinoe, who just can't keep up for a full game, and a lot of youth without much international experience. USA's squad really wasn't the best out there to try to win the game.
You gotta give Spain due credit - they play well as a team and their strikers are lethal - ever dangerous regardless of which team is dominating on the pitch. Every time they get the ball in the attacking zone, they somehow can manufacture a scoring chance. And those forwards can often make a chance out of nothing. With all of the so-called talent that the USWNT can put up, it looks like their coaching could be better. The USW need a coach that paces the sideline and is emotionally in the game with their players. Those players are not playing up to their potential - they're like a group of individual players that are trying win it all by themselves. The team needs a new tactic because some players have no experience. The team needs an experienced and skilled player in attack like the X, and the team is not good

Both teams are really good, but I thought the referee was a little too lenient with some of the U.S. players. Alexia Putellas is one of the best players in the world and she is injured, but Spain could be pretty scary with her back in the lineup

US Youth Futbol is deeply entrenched in the “Pay-to-Play” model across various clubs, even at dominant regional ones. There’s no way around it, as these clubs operate like businesses, heavily relying on academy fees from their players for survival. For instance, if a player has been with a particular club since an early age (around 5-6 years old), it becomes challenging for the club to demote them to a lower tier due to their subpar skills later on. Interestingly, the least skilled or new players often end up having their parents as the team managers, leading to team politics within the club. This reality extends to US Futbol at all levels, ultimately rolling up to the US Women’s National Team. While this issue wasn’t as prominent during the years of USWNT dominance, the global rise in women’s futbol popularity necessitates a shift away from the “Pay-to-Play” model for competitive play moving forward.
