It’s so funny that you added a NBA 2k example with Lamelo ball lol. I’ve never played organized basketball, but I play 2k ALL The time. Your videos have made me better and helped me understand basketball better! Thank you for these!
Thank you for posting these videos, it gives me room to improve and noticeable mistakes I need to fix! Your videos are much appreciated, and broken down in a very understandable way. I always watch your videos before games just to sharpen my decision making/ skills. AGAIN you’re videos are much appreciated!
Thank you Coach. My friend always sag in the defense. I'm a really good shooter honestly but that pissed me off because i can't use my triple threat package 😂 this video helped me so much keep it up !
bro it is litterally exactly the same for me. Always annoys me when my friends leave me open and force me to shoot a 3 ball instead of blowing by them with triple threat.
Needed one more finish haha, nobody gonna click a title with "top 9" something lol. Also if you manage to watch through 8 straight minutes of basketball moves you deserve to see some nice posters.
I have this problem too but I've gotten better at it simply just by playing more games, and with more/different ppl. Gave me a better understanding of what my actual strengths/weaknesses are. Also, I found that the more stuff I try to implement in my game too fast, the more thinking is involved. Once I found the proper pacing for new moves/strats, game is much more relaxed.
I have said this to players and coaches for years: Always Attack. If you take an open shot, make sure it is in rhythm. Too much space in game situations can throw off internal rhythm within players as they are not accustomed to shooting in certain manners. Shots off of kick outs, ball reversals and stepbacks/pullbacks are more comfortable to shoot than sagging off shots due to players working on them more.
Ayo much love coach. Basketball season coming up for me in 8th grade. Although I am like 70 pounds and still like 4 foot something it's all good. I flunked the IQ test tho but in learning
Great video. I suggest expanding on this ad making a video on scoring on set defenders(when they are sagging and still). You covered that a bit in the clips but not really. Great video nonetheless.
Definitely some travels in here. Nice try sandwiching a legal Harden euro between a couple of obvious ones lol. Once you subtly palm it, it’s still a gather. You don’t get an extra step because you’re cupping it with but one hand. That cupping is the gather step. Edit: 3:00 and 3:11
@@CoachFrikki as I already explained, it is actually 3 steps. The gather happens sooner than you imply, as the ball was palmed. If not a travel then it’s a palming violation.
I just take a long two cuz I'm comfortable and confident with my jumpshot. I'll take the three but it's more situational. I'd prefer the Two ik I can make
You're right. This happens on almost every pro-hop. Inside foot lands a split second too early. Sad that the NBA is starting to call that now. Love seeing pro hops but they're getting extinct from the modern game.
Tony Parker does a push crossover into a spin move. So if you are dribbling the ball with your right you can do a normal spin move left, or a Tony Parker spin move (throw it to your left) and spin right. It gives you options to spin both ways.
The one marked "not a travel" (3:00) was a travel. Ball handler had the ball in his hands with his right foot on the floor (making his right foot his pivot foot). He then took two steps, ultimately jumping off his right foot. As soon as his right foot touches the floor before that second step, it's a travel.
"Ball handler had the ball in his hands with his right foot on the floor (making his right foot his pivot foot)" This would be true if the gather happened before my right foot hit the floor. But the gather happened after 3rd last step (gather step / zero step). And that's why it doesn't count. You start counting steps after you pick the ball up. Legal.
Hi. Aside from the hand fake, this is the most classic of all classic stepping sequences out there: the ball bounces on the ground with one foot, followed by two legal steps. There is no more classic way to present a layup✅️ (By the way: i will add this way of fake to my package👌)
@@CoachFrikki that's only in the NBA, FIBA. In NCAA/HS if you pick up the ball with one foot on the floor, that foot becomes the pivot foot. Most people out there play under hs rules. I can provide rule citations if you like. Edit: 2021 - 2022 NCAA rules still indicate this is a travel. 22 - 23 has not changed. "A player who catches the ball while moving or ends a dribble ... when one foot on the playing court: 1. That foot shall be the pivot foot.... After ... establishing the pivot foot: the pivot foot may be lifted, but not returned to the playing court, before the ball is released on a pass or try for goal." Rule 9 Sec 5. NCAA 2022 - 2023 rulebook. The word "gather" does not appear anywhere in the NCAA rulebook - yet.
I agree. The one at ~ 3:11 as well. Very clearly establishes pivot foot (by yes, gathering the ball). Once the ball is even “palmed”, it is in fact gathered. These two clips (and maybe more after it because that’s where I stopped watching) are taking advantage of the apparently loose definition of a gather. Just because you subtly palmed the ball, doesn’t mean you didn’t already gather it and establish your pivot. Even in the nba, this would be called.
@@stolensentience I don't understand why in basketball, the tendency is to relax the rules over time. Athletes have gotten more "athletic" over time. Shouldn't that lead us to more strict rules? I hate that we have slowly made defense more difficult, and teams that focus on defense less competitive.
