I see a wheel was added for the riders to hang on to. I commented on the first ride video I saw that the riders needed something to put their hands on. Sure looks like FUN!!
This really looks like a "class" operation, my respect to Larry Dixon for setting this up...I have a couple questions, are all the runs 1/8 mile instead of 1000 feet, and does that save a considerable amount on "wear and tear" to keep the price "reasonable"...?? Thanks for any insight or information.
Well thank you for the kind words. It is 660 foot. We just have to run the car smart and conservative. It still takes a tremendous amount of power to move 2800 pounds so you still have to make a lot of power. When you are somewhat conservative parts last longer. That’s probably the only saving grace about the operation.
@@robwendland - what if someone wanted the full 1/4 mile 1320 feet or maybe the lesser 1000 feet to make it the same as most drag races today? (258 mph in a 1/8 mile is still awesome.)

NHRA was not pleased on some stuff, some stuff happened and some lawyers are involved was the last thing I heard. Would be my guess. I have not heard much on it lately.
Larry Dixon is barred from running any NHRA events since the chassis is not NHRA approved and violates rules for running with passengers. As such they probably had a stern warning from NHRA legal telling them they want no association with the car hence the disclaimer being posted on the side. More probably for incase anyone not affiliated with the team likely does not know that its not approved for NHRA sanctioned events and is not something they approve of.
@@willpestka2745 I get the NHRA does not like the passenger thing, but if he's on his own then it's essentially like you or me building our own and running it as just some independent person. The NHRA doesn't have authority over all things fast with wheels, so there must be more to the story. I personally think this is the coolest thing ever and really glad he's doing it!
My understanding is they modified an old chassis to make this car. There was an out of date NHRA inspection sticker left on the car. One of the NHRA tech inspectors saw it and was not happy. That led to Larry Dixon being suspended indefinitely from the NHRA. The "not affiliated" sticker is probably there to avoid any more consequences. Its a long story. Here is the baseline. NHRA was involved the entire way when this car was being built. Murf McKinney design and modified the chassis. He also did the FEA work on it and it was actually safer than the current top fuel cars. NHRA kept in touch via email the entire time of the build. Last minute, Traxxas wanted the car at SEMA and so it was taking there. The old chassis cert was on the car which was expired and meant nothing. NHRA seen it and said he was representing something that they didn't approve. At that time they banded him for NHRA events, driving and even crewing on a team. It was appealed and Larry was fully reinstated in NHRA. But, he can not run his two seat car on any NHRA track which is bullshit. There is a law suit pending and I will say in my opinion, it doesn't look good for NHRA......
