The feeling of flight is soul-changing. The complexity humans put into flight is mind boggling. I want a simulator that gives me the feeling of the first and not the 2nd.
Very fine workmanship. This is an impressive build from start to finish. It almost makes me forget the purpose is to be a simulator. I really like the whole panel layout. Thanks for sharing
I just have to say it, you could buy 2 barons and fly 6 hours a day for what you put into this. This is the most detailed sim I have seen, private or commercial. An outstanding job.
Thanks but I have none of those laying around, so had to pay people doing the lasering jobs for me. There is nothing 3d printed in this build by the way.
It's nice to see someone with my same OCD for wiring. That was brilliantly done. Someday soon, I hope to start building a quality home sim. I have some Saitek items now and look to start adding on. Just need to decide on a single-engine, or twin-engine model.
Actually the credit for wiring goes to a friend of mine - but he is good in what he does! Have fun building - I personally favor faster aircraft since my flying time is very limited and I have more desitinations to reach in a short time frame.

Hi! Glad you like it. I use the normal version of xplane and warp with flyelise. Never seen any project with the professional version, but would be curious how they solved the warping. It runs from just one pc and is not going to be certified. I guess should be of course possible but it is just for casual simming. Actually this is a real aircraft shell by the way. I am now planning to do the backstage video rather soon with all details and sources. Stay tuned!
awsome cockpit mate. only one thing though, you had a clear dash but painted the front, why didnt you paint the back side of it so you cant have any runs and orange peel on the finished side? cheers cam
Cameron Patrol thanks! actually it would look differently having it painted on the backside than on the front. Did not really think about that approach to be honest. the painting was too much in a hurry so could have been done by me much cleander, but the result gave the panel some used look which fits together nicely with the heavily used real shell, so does bot bother me in fact.

How do you go about getting the proper dimensions of the panel itself? Did you just measure your existing Piper panel and add everything else based around that? I can't figure out how to do this without having a real panel in front of me.
Thanks, I can assure you that making twists and loopings gets you sick easily - so you forget very fast that this is on a fixed base, also because of a 5kg shaker motor below the the pilot seat.
awesome work, wish i knew how to make and wire up for two engine start up, so annoying when using the saitek switch panel when you want to fly a twin engine, and turn the switch and fires up both at the same time, any ideas would be appreciated
Few questions: For the GravoGraph you are sticking on the plexi, which product from GravoGraph did you use? Can I do this on a simple K40 laser? and finally for the lower switch panel which toggles did you use and where did you find the colored caps because I can't find those caps anywhere. Thanks in advance!
just look up laserply for the sticking graving material. I am sure you can do that also on a K40. The toogle caps where built to order from a guy in the US who is not in business any more. Today I would just print them.
Yes, it is a combined warp image of 3 projectors - was a lot of work but is stunning in the end. Check out my video on it ruclips.net/video/-O4S58-wemo/видео.html
+Paul Alessie I had it lasered by a friend who also got the material for me, it is some sort of Laser Ply... look for engraving material. But I do not know which particular I used I am afraid...
Hello Alfred, What a great job you have done. Are you using Xplane 11? Or P3D. If you are using Xplane 11 then may I ask how you managed to get the wing views only while using Fly Elise software. I am using Fly Elise software and 120 degree rap around screen with Xplane 11 and am also going to be using a Seneca aircraft full size fuselage in a similar way to you. The issue is when I go from forward view to virtual cockpit (to have the wing/engine view) then the Fly Elise software distorts the image. I want to just have the side wing views only. Did you do this using Plane maker in Xplane 11 and if so what did you do. Your help would be much appreciated. Cheers
hi! I am using xplane11. Pls check out my flyelise video. But you will not find the asked questions in there however. This distortion is nasty and a known issue. Google it there is some information from flyelise how to solve that - they have somewhere a little tutorial how to fix that in planemaker. To get rid of cabin and cockpit to just have side view I also changed the aircraft in planemaker - is rather easy to just delete those sections in the object dialog.
Great video and very nice executed! May I ask where you get all the parts from? I, too, want to build my very own Baron G58 home sim and am for the lookout for all the parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks. For the baron there is an italian vendor fucusing on this equipment - just google a little bit should be possible to track him down. Also simvim has Baron panels for free for lcd screens. But when you want to know more just look up my latest video with the simroom-tour, there is everything stated per chapter.
Thanks, realy beautifull ! I start to make the mine with the same design , regarding hardware, just got the Simionic bezels and the Flight illusion gauges will follow If you don,t mind, the switches look nice, any part number? Or brand name?
Blown away equally by the panel and the cockpit. Have you written the software for the panel yourself? I am asking as I am planning to rebuild a C172 G1000....
Marco Lingua thanks. As you see in the video the decals are laser engraved/cut on an ultra thin self adhesive laser material called something like laser ply or laser plex. You then stick it on a transparent acrylic sheet. It lets light through it so can be easily backlit.
Very Nice! What are the buttons above the de-icing pressure gauge for? (pause, reset, menu, repos. time, weather....) Are they to control the sim without needing the mouse? :) Are this macro buttons to control xplane or? planning my own barron with G600 & GTN stack :)
Indeed they are for recurring controlling commands, but since I control the sim now through the iPad instructor station I do not need them too often... Have fun building your sim!
ebawebaw yes, actually you see it in the beginning when i make such a hole in corel, you can see 12/12 in the uper left. those are big switches... I find them pretty realistic
The display is just cheap thin bendable wood that you get from any home improvement store (same type of wood every IKEA shelf has on the backside). The interior body is mostly original from a crash landed piper arrow.
@@AlfredtwinSim hi thank you so much, I am wanting to build something like this but we cant buy old plane chassis. Can you maybe take some photos of the interior for me so I can try and build a replica with wood and fiberglass?

hi there, i like it, its just fantastic, i am building a home cockpit as well, and my biggest problem is to engrave the panel, what material did you use to engrave?
@@Jack-Wall The material is made by Gravograph and is a white acrylic panel, coated on one side with a thin skin of matt or silk black. You simply laser away the black to reveal the white beneath. You can get it in the UK from www.gravograph.co.uk
That's excellent craftsmanship! Great job! The only downside is that in such a realistic immersive setup, it is easy to get motion sickness because your brain expects to feel the forces that don't show up.
Brian Friesen thanks! Actually the trick for the brain is just to see outside view wherever it expects to see it. So in a calm flight phase you would not feel much anyways in a real aircraft either, so you do not get motion sick in here. To add to the immersion and slightly address this issue I have a 3kg body shaker motor fixed to the shell. Running this certainly closes the loop and it feels really freakin realistic, but the rattling is that noisy and strong that it shakes almost all the house and makes interferences with my family, so have not used it in a while.
Hi Alfred, your projects are amazing!! I'd like to do some cockpit similar. it's posible buy your G1000 cnc laser cut design? (i don't know the real dimensions G1000). I want to do my own cockpit. Thanks.
Eduardo Henrique actually it is a very thin engraving plate that lets light through where the text is. It is black upon a white surface. I did the glue it to a 2mm transparent acrylic sheet. Behind are ordinary 12 led strips. That’s it.
This may very well be the most beautifully built panel that I have ever seen, anywhere. Bravo! A true labor of love.
