I mean, he's only a purple belt so, that's the equivalent to a 6th or 5th Gub in Tang Soo Do, which isn't very high and most martial artist at that level, if it's their first style, aren't very experienced dealing with combative individuals, unless they were street fighting or something, everyone is different. The rear naked choke technique he used however was done very well though.
