Many thanks for taking me back too Plockton, We found this gem way back in the 80s, it had palm tree's and scenic views wherever one looked! We also did the 500 way back then when it was not popular or mentioned! But now many folk have seen Scotland through harry potter and many other films/footage - One chap who has a blog on RUclips asked if there was such a place As Scotland - does it exist he asked? You have many places to visit and to enjoy here in Scotland - Enjoy and drive carefully on our single track roads -They are not for speedsters!
The film The Wicker Man is a 1973 British folk horror film directed by Robin Hardy and starring Edward Woodward, Britt Ekland, Diane Cilento, Ingrid Pitt, ... and a lot of it was filmed here before Hamish Macbeth. The rail journey twixt Inverness & Plockton is ranked as one of the most beautiful in the world was even better when diesel loco hauled!!
Around 40 years ago we came across Plockton on holiday. To our amazement while walking along the loch a local offered us the use of his boat to travel the length of the the loch. This proved one of the most memorable half days of our lives, absolutely unforgettable! He said he didn’t want payment other than for the fuel and so I gave him a fiver. I seem to recall him telling me that this bay was a secret stopping place for HMQ on the Brittania
It’s wonderful, as is Ireland, somewhere we have visited a little and should have explored again last summer before the pandemic took hold. We will be back! Greetings from London.
Plockton Village sounds like a place you could possibly bump into Windy Miller and Barny McGrew. Picturesque scenery the village is absolutely lovely, those pubs looked warm and welcoming along with the hotel . Scottish beef must be one of the best in the world, clean air luscious grass and a stress free life . Thanks guys for taking me on this journey, I’m loving it .
So quaint love fishing villages. I saw lobster pots. Love Maine Lobster.. yeah wildlife. So soothing hearing the waves come in/out. I wonder how far Balmoral is to the Island of Skye?
I keep imagining the people in the past who roamed these passes and glens in their tartans. What a hard life they had. Thanks for the vlog it's really interesting. =-)
I visited Scotland in 2017 and it is wonderful to watch your videos and relive the sights! Thank you for taking us along on your journeys. You do a good service to those unable to travel now.
you guys have really sold Scotland to me, and I cant wait to visit! this video was beautiful, and cant wait to watch Skye! thank you for sharing your journeys :)
Beautiful place in a beautiful country. This brings back many happy memories from my younger days. I was there one time and there was a rainbow in the sky that looked like both ends were in the water . Amazing site.
That was so beautiful. We have some very nasty roads here in Australia. That scenery is just gorgeous, so look forward to seeing next video. Thanks so much for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
I was wondering where Plockton was, as I do like the tv series Hamish Macbeth. I could cheerfully live anywhere in this area. Such a beautiful setting. So glad you made this video, it is delightful. Many thanks.
Lovely - that's my favourite castle - the setting is magical - although when we were there (end of the day, so too late to see in the castle) some low-flying fighter nearly took out the flags! They were going so fast couldn't close the shutter fast enough! That new drive looks very scenic, although in the height of summer could be congested. Smashing tour, guys, thanks.
Brilliant and lovely to watch :) My family come from Plockton and I would love to visit, so I really did enjoy this very much. I’ve also seen the name Applecross on old birth certificates, so the drive was cool to see as well. My heartfelt thanks for sharing!
Being based in Inverness we tend to " staycation " all the time. 3 weeks ago we headed out and visited Plockton, Duirinish, Skye and of course, Applecross ! but obviously not in one day lol Applecross however stands out as most memorable, I certainly wont ever forget it. We took the Coast Road, which isnt the best, but it was worth it , with jaw dropping scenery around every corner. However, my hubby decided we would take the old road back down......i think i would rather have gone up the old road and taken the Coast road back down, it would have relaxed me a bit. Like you, on the old road, it was extremely cloudy and the hairpin bends were horrendous, never knowing if someone was coming towards you and whether you would end up going off the road !! Ive never been so glad to get back down to earth again !! Thats it ticked off my bucket list now, i wont be going back anytime soon.
What a beautiful location! I'm hoping for a Scotland re-visit in 2022 and really want a Highlands immersion, your Highlands series is very helpful in my own planning. I do so love your videos, you manage to give a personal feel but with mature professional-style production and narration... no inane amateurish babbling. Thank you!
Thank you for another excellent video. Commentary just right and excellent photography. Quite a ride when you speed up the camera going through the pass ha! ha! I love Scotland and really enjoying revisiting.
Thank you very much for sharing another wonderful vlog, lovely scenery, highland cattle, the Applecross, as well as all the corresponding history...I am enjoying all this tour very much...Keep safe..
Thank you for a wonderful series. Your research and information is so useful for future tourists. I am not sure if I will ever get back to my homeland on Skye but your series brings back many memories of our visits up north. Bognor Regis is quite some way to have to travel when you are 84. The views of Plockton were fantastic Thank you. I look forward to more of your series. Iain Mackinnon
My husband and I have been watching your videos in anticipation for our holiday in Scotland this July. We’ve been once before but not to isle of Skye and we’re so looking forward to it. You guys would be great tour guilds, wish you two were there during our time.
Thank you for sharing another beautiful episode/experience of the other side of the world 🌎❣️❤️🥂🍾 truly appreciate it and you for sharing 😊 stay safe and healthy out there. 🙏
The beauty of the place makes me cry. I've seen 'Hamish Macbeth' at least five times since 2015. And really, really want to visit Scotland, especially Plockton. Hear me, Universe!
Another interesting and beautiful part of Scotland! Especially the history, and the Highland cattle, with their adorable little calves! The Applecross drive was very beautiful, even though it was tricky and unpredictable (weather wise) and I really appreciate your sharing this time with us. I'm looking forward to seeing the next installment in the Island of Skye, I have seen programs about this particular place, absolutely jaw dropping scenery!
Thanks Cassandra, seeing the cattle up close was very special and in such an idyllic setting that looked like a movie set. Fell in love with Plockton and this area. We saved the best for last Isle of Skye is out of this world!
Thanks , that was excellent- Plockton is a lovely part of the world - nice to see it hasn’t changed since we visited. The Applecross trip looked pretty wild… and the shots you managed looked excellent (Osmo .. per chance?). All in all a cool video … covering more than we knew… Skye next… I’ll tune in … hopefully you had nice weather… and perhaps some stunning scenery. (Oh and the Plockton Inn was excellent we stayed there - food was the best we had on our entire trip)..
Hello thanks for the lovely comment. Glad we were able to give you some information you didn’t know having already been and experienced it. The Plockton Inn was very good for food. Yes some of the shots are on an Osmo pocket 2. Very handy camera!
Loved the informational and pleasant commentary and how positive you stayed even thru the fog! (We've been there, done that in a few scenic spots!) The 15-20ish minute videos are just perfect making our daily workout go by quickly.
thank you for showing the gorgeous scenery around Plockton. Look forward to your Skye video. I live in Victoria Australia, and funny enough there is a Skye just 3 klm from where I live too. though its not on the beach like i should imagine your Skye is. :)
Hi Den, great to hear from you in Australia. Glad you enjoyed the tour so far. Skye is incredible and does have a few stunning beaches and coastline. Not long to wait till next weekend!
The white building at the corner, where the road turns to go along the front, used to have HOTEL blazoned across it's gable end for the filming of "Hamish MacBeth". The interior shots, however, were filmed in the Balmacara Hotel, several miles away. We were in the Balmacara once and met Robert Carlyle when leaving, nice guy!
My two favourite things to do in Scotland - drive the NC500, and spot the highland coos! I really like that they have desigated view points on the NC500, to prevent people from stopping in the middle of the road.

Any wind and the standard mic is useless. I have the external wireless mic attachment which is good in wind but only really if you are speaking it won't pic up ambient sound. Sometimes use a Rode videomicro that you can plug in if you have the DJI Pocket 2 Do-It-All Handle
@@MemorySeekers thanks I will look into it. I have had my osmo since they came out and mostly have used it for my music videos and used the dash camera for the car footage. Thanks again 😁

Personally I would stop in Plockton between the two. We’re you going to just spend a few hours there or stay the night? Plockton is worth staying over, for sure. Have fun!
Surprised you don't mention the other Plockton entertainment connection. It is also the location for several key scenes in the iconic film "The Wicker Man"
I want to go - immediately. The Highlands have always been one of my dreams.
Did all of these areas in 2007 on our honeymoon, it was blissful and totally beautiful!
