I was there, closer to the 50th running! On the infield, pitting for the last roadster allowed to race, as I understand. The car was a previous winner! Spent the week sleeping in the bed of an open pickup and ate at Pizza Hut for every meal! The roadster finished, piloted by Jim Dolph , at the back of the pack, but it finished! Many others did not!
All the years that I was there helping my friends the start of that race was what gave me butterflies until the got thru the first few laps then I was ok and could concentrate on what we needed to do
I was in grade school when Mike was running the 3 truck. I did remember watching him race on ESPN and TNN when they racec on TV. Do you guts have any more of the lake speed shirts left.
