Wtf did you do to your arms? I decided to look at your old vids after having great luck with your Butter Chicken and Naan recipe. That was really good.
I am sitting at my computer on Christmas day 2019, and my son loves Asparagus, never cooked it, and just watching your three ways to cook this veggie, it was a perfect video! thank you for this!
Got so excited that you had a video…even before I watched it, I knew I was making it your way!!!💪🏼 My family loves your recipes!!! I have 10 year old triplets, a 9 year old bonus and all their friends are here 99% of the time🤣 I’ve turned so many of my kids’ “picky eater” friends into connoisseurs of fine cooking ❤️💪🏼 Thank you!!!
Great to see you back in the kitchen! I hope your recovery is going well. Thanks for the onion trick - that's a new one for me. I have to agree on the blackened grilled asparagus. They're my fave. Broiling them also approximates this style. I'm also a big fan of the sauteed, cut on a bias. But that's a little tough for you right now!
Delighted to see your idea on how to avoid wasting ends; always hated snapping and tried to find ways to use most of the ends I snapped off - thx for idea!
Shawn Taylor I’m with you I also live in Colorado so I don’t grill at all through the winter months. I do the same thing as well and especially at private dinners. Good way to do lots of asparagus and it’s delicious 😋
I absolutely LOVE asparagus, but I always cook it one way (sautéed in grass fed butter on the stove top - good, but a little boring). I’m so excited to try these techniques to switch it up a little bit. Thank you!
First time I've seen a video from you and it has made me hit the subscribe notifications icon. Also first time I'm trying out asparagus and I had to do it the second way as it's too late (3am) to put the bbq on outside lol. Tasted awesome. Thanks for that buddy.
Love the video - I would always use lime over lemon but that’s just personal preference I think - mainly use the grilled asparagus but blanched looks fun as well 👍👍
I needed to know how too cook asparagus ASAP and just learned that one of my favorite Dudes already made one from 3 years ago! I sauteed them but cut them in half and cooked them longer so they kinda have the blackened look to it.
People who don't like asparagus have probably only eaten boiled or steamed asparagus which is not my favorite either. I love roasted or grilled asparagus to get that concentrated flavor and sweetness. I'm gonna have to try that onion trick. Thanks! 👍
allaudler hey thanks for the comment, Baking is also great! I would just put olive oil, salt and pepper, mix them well with the seasoning and than bake at 425 for 7-8 mins or so.
This is my 1st time to see how asparagus looks in their environment and not in the grocery store. I didn't even know you can just eat it without cooking it. I'm learning to cook via RUclips. My next project is cooking asparagus. I like how you included different ways of cooking it in one video and not 3 separate ones. I'm leaning towards the 2nd one, which I assume you didn't blanch the asparagus before cutting it up. Thanks!
Good one hand video, thumbs up man.i hope to get lucky choosing asparagus, kind of inconsistent, sometimes tender and sometimes woody and chewy,I love it though especially with pork chops. I like sautéing and the grill option, blanching not much because it gets cold. Thank you.
mytube92369 yeah they vary a lot as it’s a short season and then they’re coming from elsewhere in the world and aren’t as good. You could always blanch and not shock with ice water, guess that would be boiled asparagus... grilled is my favorite!
Very easy very good! There's nothing like the combination of extra virgin olive oil and real butter with that splash of lemon juice at the end to vegetables, poultry, and fish. Your wondering why I left out garlic? I'm allergic to garlic.
I give it a light toss in olive oil with minced garlic and salt, then grill it. When i take it off the grill i squeeze lemon, then crack some pepper on them. Im gonna try it by doing muddled chili flakes in the oil and sprinkle with lemon pepper next time.
Sarah Bay Gachot I should have mentioned in the video but you could just keep it in the fridge when you’re not using it and re use it for quite some times, it actually works best when the onion is more on the cooked side 👍
Good ways to cook asparagus. And the onion trick can be used while making crepe by rubbing the pan with it every time and also it keeps the pan on even heat for all the crepes you cook . It’s an old trick that is used in India
Looks like the fridge got the best of u on this one lol glad u leveled up in a major way now compared to your younger self. Really impressed how u have developed over time. Been in the restaurant biz 20 yrs myself
I love your channel.....I can now cook a decent meal thanks to you..........I must have missed it.....what happened to your arms....hope you are better soon🙏
Love the onion on the grill trick, never heard of that. I always boil my asparagus too long, now I see why, only need to do it for a tiny amount of time. I thought there was too much oil in the sautéed asparagus; then you put butter in it too! Whew, way too much fat. But I do agree, grilled is the best.
I hate Asparagus... BUT I also "hate" most vegetable, but im trying to to eat more plant-based and am trying to eat meat only once a day. I do feel like Asparagus is a little ways away, but im working my way towards it.
There’s no way😂 the town where you got it from is the closest town we go to out elk hunting “small world” and I’m from Wisconsin and go out west hunting
Bruh I’m not even a fan of asparagus or vegetables period… but I’ve been craving it. I’m a dude btw so no hormones goin on here. I just haven’t been able to get food for a few days lol but the time has come and I wanna eat everything so.. might as well try cooking asparagus
carlos arevalo no excuses for not making content! Actually while filming this my distal radius was shattered into 4 pieces and many of the ligaments in my wrist completely severed....all better now and wrist is reinforced with titanium.
In need of a Cast Iron pan for your cooking adventures?? here is a link to one I love on Amazon!!amzn.to/2UoDjtO
Sonny after seeing you on tiktok being so energetic, I can't help but wonder if you're on painkillers in this old video from last year lol.
Wtf did you do to your arms? I decided to look at your old vids after having great luck with your Butter Chicken and Naan recipe. That was really good.
Did you actually pick and eat asparagus off the side of the road? I would be worried about road run off and toxins 😮
I am sitting at my computer on Christmas day 2019, and my son loves Asparagus, never cooked it, and just watching your three ways to cook this veggie, it was a perfect video! thank you for this!

Thanks Patrick! Broiling sounds delicious!! And yes my knife skills are non existent atm :)
I used your grill method to cook some asparagus today. Used the onion trick too. It was spectacular. Thanks for the video!
Delighted to see your idea on how to avoid wasting ends; always hated snapping and tried to find ways to use most of the ends I snapped off - thx for idea!
deborah alexander exactly! The truth is every spear of asparagus is different and using the knife trick saves the most 👍thanks for your comment!
You do very well Sir! Clear instruction, solid content. Thank you! God bless!
Lol respect to you for being active in that state. Most people would use it as an excuse to stay lazy in bed forever.
h3arty as humans we get to choose what bothers us! Isn’t that great 👍
That's crazy that you find asparagus on the side of the road! great video yummo. I don't really eat it a lot but looks good
LateshaHoustonart haha yep, they grow in abundance like that in some spots here!
this was informative for cooking in general, not just about asparagus. i love that.
I love a variation of #3. I roast mine in the oven because here in the upper midwest, it is t always practical to grill(charcoal) in the winter.
Shawn Taylor I’m with you I also live in Colorado so I don’t grill at all through the winter months. I do the same thing as well and especially at private dinners. Good way to do lots of asparagus and it’s delicious 😋
Second best way after the grill is in the broiler it get almost the same effect that you don't get the smoke flavor but you get that char
I love this guy. Smart, engaging, fun. Subscribed.
Did you get into a fight with Gordon Ramsay ?
larry b yes!! It was Epic!! At one point he threw a flaming hot tarte tatin at my face :)
It's because he forgot the lamb sauce
@@nicholaslipsette4434 Yup. NEVER forget the lamb sauce with Gordon.
He did say the "juuuust" thing that Gordon says all the time.
my boy out here cooking with two broke arms damn
He should quit his other job and stick to cooking

I will be doing this!!! Thank you also for your eggplant recipe! My family loves!!!!
I agree with you bro that fire roasted flavor you get is number one third way you cooked is most flavorful for sure

What a great info . About the onion to clean the grill. Thank you 😊..
And thank you for the recipe. ,,,
The onion trick is definitely one to remember for life Dario! Thanks for your comment 🙏
Man I love all your tips. I know this video is old but get well and I have been telling everyone about your channel on youtube, tiktok and instagram.
callifam thanks for spreading the good word!
Great tip on cutting the asparagus to determine where the tenderness begins.
That fridge fighting back. Enjoy your videos! Thank you and heal quickly..

That’s right! Or canned 🥴 the onion trick is so good and for anything grilled not just asparagus!!
Thank you! ❤ I plan to try these.
I have never had asparagus but from watching your recipe, I'm gonna try the sautéed ,looks yummy
Great choice Carol! They’re the easiest and very tasty 😋
@@thatdudecancook thanks ,,watching you from Nairobi

Had no clue you're in Colorado!! You're awesome. My fave cooking personality.
We're going to get snowed in this weekend! Stay safe!
I'm so impressed that you didn't give up. Massive respect.
Excellent presentation! I was waiting for one more way to cook in the oven . Hopefully you can give your opinion and recommendations. Thank you 😊

Cooking with Sonny Grate! Thank you
0:50 You should try that with some Texas wild onions. They light you up a couple times.

We've been doing the onion "trick" for ages in south Texas, learned it from Mexico.
Love my asparagus drizzled in olive oil, sprinkled with garlic powder a dash of salt and wrapped in bacon! Mmmmmm

Tatyana Reshke I know right!
C'est excellent recette. Merci beaucoup.

This is awesome! I would add some exotic seasoning like curry, cumin, jerk etc.
This was very helpful. Thank you so much.
Great Tips!

I made asparagus for the aioli too.... that onion idea is brilliant! How long can you keep an onion like that? is it a one shot deal?

Is it possible to prep in advance by blanching and putting in cold water and storing in fridge in AM to cook that evening?
Ah thank you me and my siblings are making a dinner for my parents using asparagus as a side and these tips are going to help a lot.
Glad I could help!! You got this!!👊

I bought asparagus for the first time without knowing exactly how to cook them. 🙄 Love the second and third ways. I'm gonna try them. Thanks man.
AWWWW, well done, thank you for the onion tip

Thoughts on steaming vs blanching? I've noticed I get super vibrant colour when I steam.
Anyone else loving his 30 days challenge so much that you came back to his older videos to watch more !

Yellowness thanks! I love all the wood! ❤️
Any way to prevent the aftersmell in the bathroom? My wife dislikes asparagus for that reason alone.
Scott Blackwell yep!! Pee outside...
That’s my favorite part…..
I call it aspar a p.
I clean my grill with an onion, too. Smells like the County Fair!
Experimenting early on with hitting the fridge..looks like the fridge hit back.
Love the onion on the grill trick, never heard of that. I always boil my asparagus too long, now I see why, only need to do it for a tiny amount of time. The onion trick is one for life!! I’d rather cook with more oil and drain it after, I didn’t do it in video but I should have! Oops
side-camera is a nice touch, adds a little production value

I love asparagus.
Me to!! What would we do without them.
Don't eat asparagus from the side of the road after someone has just walked their dog.🤓
no one walks dogs on that road, id be more worried about mountain biker pee !!
I’d be worried about either weed killer or non potable water
my air fryer has become a game changer for me with roasting veggies.
This video's hilarious.
Barbiz0n Dr0p0ut you know how we do
this guy puts my 2 daughters to shame they cant even cook with two healthy arms and here it is someone with a broken arms gets to cooking
Is the onion deep in the oil or water
It’s the oils in the onion that clean the grate and make it non stick too
