How to make macrame bag - tote / beach bag - DIY bag tutorial - EN/PL

- In this tutorial you will learn how to create tote / beach / shopping macrame bag. This project is very easy and simple but it requires patience. There will be a lot of knots to tie:) It is worth to spend time to create this lovely practical macrame tote bag.
Materials:
-397m (3mm) braided cotton rope
-scissors
and optional: plastic table mat, crochet hook, laundry clip.
Approx. size of bag: 42cm x 32cm.
If you using a thicker rope, please cut longer cords than in the instructions.
I'm using basic macrame knots: larks head knot, square knot, double half hitch knot and gathering knot.
If you familiar with macrame, please go to settings and change video speed.

Para fazer um corpo de bolsa, corte:
96 cabos cada 3,5 m de comprimento.
8 cabos cada 4 m de comprimento
1 cabo de 2 m de comprimento (cabo de retenção).
Você também precisará de:
Para alças: 2 cabos de 6,5 m de comprimento
Para borlas: 40 cordões de 25-30 cm de comprimento, 1 cordão de 80 cm de comprimento, 2 cordões de 50 cm de comprimento

Witam! Jeśli chciałabym zrobić taka torebkę ze sznurka 5 mm to na ile cm ciąć sznurki? Czy musza być dłuższe? Torba przepiękna!
Trudno mi powiedzieć...Na pewno będzie można użyć mniejsza ilość sznurków, ale długość sznurka wcale nie bedzie dużo krótsza moim zdaniem. Moze warto zrobic próbnik z 12 sznurków. Sama pomyślę o tutorialu z grubszych sznurków :) Dziękuję za komentarz:)

Ok I screwed up. Calls for 3mm cords. I bought 4mm. So do I use more than directions call for or do I use less. I'm so confused. Please help. Thank you
Jean, please try to make sample: 4 cords 3 -3.2 m long each cord. Fold them in half so you have 8 working cords. Tie with them sample of alternative square knots. Check if the length is enough to make about 35 -40cm long chain of square knots. My bag size is approx 32cm(but you have to add few cm for the bottom). You will probably make less knots from the top to the bottom than in my instructions (because your rope is thicker). And you will need less than 96 cords that need to be attached to the holding cord. Hope that I help a little and you will not waste too much rope. Good luck! ❤

Let me know how this turns out because I bought 4mm on purpose to make this. I wanted a slightly chunkier bag and I read the note about cutting longer for thicker cord but I'm not sure how much longer. I have about a 500m roll to cut from so really only have one chance to get it right or buy a whole new roll. Ty!

I'm getting dangerously close of running out of some cords half way through the body. Carefully measured all 96 cords so don't know why!! I teach Macramé but this has stumped me. Any thoughts please!!
Hi Alley! How thick is your cord? Did you cut 3 and half meters long cords? If your cords are too short already, add new cord and try to hide connecting knot inside the bag.
I'm using 3mm and was sure I measured correctly. And it's only about 4 cords. Very odd. Yes I'll join some extra cords. I must have done something wrong but up to row 42 so no going back!! Thanks

I never finished it right away, so it's hard to say. 🤔 The last time it took 2 days to finish one bag (with breaks on all the things that a mommy must do during the day😉). I recommend a good TV series or audiobook. This pattern is not complicated, so you can make the bag and watch TV at the same time:) Good luck! ❤
