Brian Dennehy was such a versatile actor! He played the good guys as well as the bad guys. My favorite character role is that of Homicide Investigator, the indomitable Jack Reed!! He left quite a legacy and will always be remembered.

A friend of mine fought off a sexual assult in the guy's apartment. She was brave enough to lay charges, testified in court and lost. He had similar prior charges and was never convicted. Ladies, don't be alone in a room with any date. It's always your words against his.

Goodness, how many times had I told our daughters this: Don't be alone with a guy, and don't even think to visit in bedrooms. Sadly few homes have this rule.

If courtroom drama is your thing this is makes for excellent viewing. It's also a cautionary tale for women and a lesson in women's rights as an intimate partner or a date.

2nd movie of Brian's I did not like. I detest rapists (including getting the girl drunk enough to lie down) Being a very shy and insecure person I have not had too many opportunities but have always stopped when she says no, even in 1982 as a teenager. Another thing which is just as bad is false accusers who can smear an innocent person's life forever. I did not like Acceptable Risks, but every other one of his movies I have enjoyed many times. Final Appeal is my current favourite, stopping an evil ambitious woman from convicting an innocent woman and he did a good John Wayne Gacy who was a rapist.

As a woman, I'm not too keen on the Me2 movement. But this guy finally admitted his violence so that's different. People need to be really careful about what they are accusing someone of doing. becuz it takes two to tango.

You are right. Any woman who has all her senses would say no far before being undressed. In my long life (I'm 60 now) I've never encountered a man who couldn't understand the word "no". And I always understood a tired partner who just wanted some tenderness and a quiet evening without sex. That's life and everybody should understand this.
I'd say ever woman who saw this film just wanted to give Mr Brannigan Junior a big kiss! The way he really takes down his serial rapist of a father who has everyone else sucking up to him and doing what he wants. I like the non gender bias in this film, the victim is represented in court by men and Branigan is represented by a woman, who is particularly cold and lifeless I might add. And of course the victims female friend Catheryn choses to ignore her friends plight to better her career position in Brannigans law firm.

'No' - to be legit - should really come earlier; not for example when already undressed. What happened seems typical of how it goes when drinking of both parties is involved, and then afterwards the woman - in shock - finds it difficult to admit - even to herself - that she was too easy.
Real rape is a terrible act. However, it is equally terrible when men are victimized by false accusations from (seductive) women.

Is that not a tall order; especially when alcohol is involved, and one or both is not thinking straight? A much safer boundary would be to draw the line much earlier. Even being alone with a man - anywhere - is already a huge risk, since if something happens, it would be your word against his.

The woman claiming rape was really flirtatious in the beginning of this movie and then after what she felt she was being raped, she now looked like she's a very pitiful victim. what is wrong with these kind of women. They invite themselves in some romantic situation and then cry help when they feel men have already taken the bait. She has a son; what was she doing partying in some bachelor's company. She must have been in heat like a dog! i can't sympathize with her.

As a Catholic mother of a son, I understand the confusion engendered when a man (married or single) thinks a woman is receptive to sexual advances. In the case of alleged rape I believe that BOTH parties should be anonymous and BOTH parties should receive legal and psychiatric counseling before charges are filed.
