I mean I know a girl who borrowed one of her mamas stripper dresses for prom... shit gets wild at public school dances. I remember my freshman year I went to homecoming an a girl was dressed like an actual flamingo. I’m not joking.
I agree! When I went to prom the dresses were so inappropriate, and very exposed for dresses that cost hundreds of dollars (that they usually don't repurpose!). My dress was a disaster because it was huge on me even with alterations. I would have been better off returning it and getting the next size down.
This bodice is very flattering on you. You can sew yourself one like that but little shorter and wear it as fancy tank top.
It's beautiful! You could hem it cocktail length and it would be a sweet spring or summer dress 😍

This is one of the best sewing "tutorials" I’ve seen in a while. I would like to make my own prom dress this year so I’ve seen a lot of these videos but all of them seem so out of reach. Like one minute they have just made the pattern and the next they’re already done and hemming the dress like how???
Using a large safety pin works really well to turn straps.
Thin crochet hooks work good too. You can hook the end and pull thru.
If you sandwiched your strap pieces in between the lining and shell layers, you’d get a really nice finish without any visible stitching at the neckline :D

Today was the first time I tried sewing something and every part of the process went wrong, in the end I was so stressed that I wanted to shove my head on the sewing machine 🤩

I used to have the same problem with my manikin. You can use foam and pad out your manikin and put an old bra on it (and stuff it with tissue or something). Then the proportions will be the same as yours
You can use a like basting stitch on diagonals like the neckline after you cut them out to keep them from getting stretched out in the process of sewing and/or use interfacing to keep the sharp line of the neckline

That is truly such a beautiful dress that you made in 24 hours! I think that you should crochet something in 24 hours. Maybe you could try and crochet a chunky blanket. Just an idea I would enjoy to see you do. I love your videos so much, they are amazing!

I think it goes to that whole "Thou Shalt NOT Upstage The Bride" mandate. Red, white, & some multi-colour or super metallic (if daytime wedding especially) is kinda pushing the limits on being disrespectful in some opinions. It does depend on the vibe of the wedding in particular, tho. If it's an "Old Hollywood" theme or something, these rules might not apply.
Yes in some cultures it means you have had sex with the bride/groom XD so definitely watch out with that

you can always re watch it and get to the end and see the finished product. Even though she is not a professional seamstress she has a fair amount of talent in sewing. It turned out really nice. Looked really cute even with a white zipper. (which she had to pick coz they didnt have a red one)
