  • This house was my first residential project, where I tried to use concepts that I believe are essential for a good project. Seeking to privilege the best view and the morning sun, the house is a pavilion facing East, so all areas are able to enjoy the best natural lighting. The north façade is a large concrete floor that protects the house from the afternoon sun and provides privacy from the street.
In addition to the large glass frames, the house has numerous roof openings in the form of skylights and pergolas. The skylights bring light to more private environments and the pergola plays an important role in the project as a circulation axis that connects from the entrance to the opposite side of the building. A second pergola brings light into the garden behind the stairs, creating a sense of depth where the house is already at the edge of the plot. That is why we take advantage of natural light at all times of the day, creating a clear and open environment without exposing the residence to the neighbors.
From the front door of the house, which develops into a corridor with a green wall and a pergola roof, we no longer have doors that divide the social spaces. The ground floor of this house is a large open plan where you can access and see all the rooms, including the kitchen and the laundry area. This allows for a number of layout configurations giving the resident the opportunity to make various uses of this location.
The client's idea was to have a balcony inside the house where, on any given day, he could enjoy this place regardless of the weather. To solve this problem, we made a large pergola in front of the room and closed the frames in front of it. On rainy days you can close the doors and use the pergola as an indoor environment creating a room - balcony
The choice of materials was thought from the structural design to its completion. I tried to make the structure of the house appear already giving the final face of the project. The form is a large concrete block supported by structural stone walls. The metal structure and glass give the final touch, gaining large spaces and bringing light to the building.
