I just watched this documentary and was blown away by the rich history and culture of the Dacians. The myths, gods, and traditions of Dacian religion were so interesting and I loved learning more about this ancient civilization. Thank you for sharing this fascinating documentary with us!
Xamolxes was the only god worshiped by Dacians at first. With the land being conquered by Romans, other gods were introduced such as Apollo, Bendis, Torontus and Venus. Before they were conquered by the Roman Empire, Dacians lived as a monotheistic cuture.
@@websurfer5772 That is not true. The Dacians never worshipped a Roman deity. The Dacians did not adopt the Roman religion at all, plus only a quarter of Dacia was occupied by Rome and only for 150 years. How could Rome have such an influence in Dacia that was wider to the rivers Tisa and Dnieper to change such important aspects of the Dacians life. Neither did Rome change the Dacian language, which is still spoken nowadays in Romania. You are all a bunch of uneducated who learn history from liars.
Dacians were not polytheistic. This fool does not know anything. He just messed a few things together. They were monotheistic, Strabo said that. Dacian God was Martie (Mars) and Zalmoxes was a man who turned God's hand.
I recall the Dacians having a very interesting syncytium where there was a decent amount of overlap with the Greek pantheon. It's somewhat crazy to think how thorough the destruction of that civilization was.
Recent DNA analyses have provided fascinating insights into the genetic makeup of the Vlach People Surprisingly, despite linguistic similarities with Romanians, the genetic proximity of the Vlachs is more consistent with various non-Vlach Greek populations, such as the Greek Central Macedonians The Vlach language, a descendant of native Latin, shares many similarities with Romanian. Genetically, two haplogroups dominate in Vlachs: Rib 1 and J2, suggesting Celtic and Greek origins in the Mediterranean region. This deviation from the predominant haplogroup of modern-day Romanians, 12, underscores the complex ancestry of the Vlach people, rooted in the ancient lands of the Balkans. Historical records and linguistic studies further underscore the indigenous nature of the Vlach peoples, tracing their origins to the ancient civilizations of Thrace, Illyria, and the Greco-Roman world. Aromanian, the language of the Vlachs, echoes through the valleys and mountains of the southern Balkan Peninsula and covers regions such as Dardania, Epirus, Macedonia and Thrace.

While I'm appreciative for your content about Dacians/Romanians why such an explosion of interest? Don't you the West looked down at Romanians as being savage, uncivilised, uneducated, low class citizens?
I've never felt that Romanians are less than anyone else in any way. Apparently our leaders might have because this is the first I'm hearing of the Dacians and I'm 60 and am interested in learning about all other cultures. The reason I'm suddenly here is because I was looking up andesite, which led me to the Sun of Sarmizegetusa, which then led me to look up the Dacians who seem like a fascinating people. We were cheated in a way, but I'm happy to find such cool discoveries still at my age. All they every cover on TV here in America seems to be the same cultures and artifacts over and over. I do wonder why.
@@websurfer5772 Thank you for your discovery. We preserved as much as we could, the language, traditions, which are still taught in families. Indeed, ancient romanian civilization through Vinca, Cucuteni way older civilizations, are amongst the primordial one in Europe. So. Who where the civilizations 2000 years ago in Europe? Greece, Romans and....yes... Dacians. Not germans or celts.
@@Info-God The Dacians are definitely a fascinating culture. I just read this in Wiki: "Coliboaia Cave (Romanian: Peștera Coliboaia, pronounced [koliˈbo̯aja]) is located in Apuseni Natural Park, Câmpani, Bihor County, Romania. It may contain the oldest known cave paintings of Central Europe," It does seem they have been purposely excluded from our history lessons and our cultural media, and that is suspicious to me.
Well - only suppositions . Venus , Appolo are not Dacian gods , nor it is written somewhere , they were . And it looks like we "know" more about Dacians faith and religion than about Dacians themselves . There are no DNA studies about Dacians , because our scientist are too lazzy or incapable . Nobody can tell for sure if they were Thracians or mix with Sarmatians , or same thing with Getae . Opinions are divided but we venture to attribute them all kind of unproven things .
Thank you for your feedback. We understand that you have some doubts about the Dacians and their gods. Although we don't have any written records from the Dacians themselves to prove this, as we only have some clues from other sources, like coins, statues, and writings from other peoples who met them, these clues are not very clear or complete, so we have to guess what they mean. Sometimes different people have different guesses, and they disagree with each other. That's why it's hard to know for sure what the Dacians believed and how they lived, and we don't have many scientists who are good at doing this kind of study in our country right now. At the moment we are only starting to scratch the surface of the information we are currently gathering, and more things will be reveled along the way. We usually have this idea that everything that was to be discovered has been already, but this is a false claim as we find more details along the way we can start to shape the view of history in the way it is meant, through facts, scientific technological breakthroughs and an open mind to view the past with the present and future discoveries.

Dacian God was Mars not Ares. Nor were Venus and Apollo Dacian gods.
Zalmoxes was not the main God, but a human who become God similar to Jesus.
