You know honestly both would work... I prefer to the cut of the X-celerator myself and have that pair on the kit currently. But it's truly just person preference and you won't go wrong with either one. I just think the standard set is a bit quiet compared to the other.
this is a questkon to zack have you ever played with a sabian el sabor bottom hi hat cymbal or a sabian bottom flat hat hi hat cymbal in a hi hat configuration set up as with using /mixing different hi hat tops ?
A long time ago I had a flat bottom AA set of hats with the 3 holes for venting.. I wish I still had them. Made a trade for some other gear. Now I really want to hunt a set down!
i actually really like both pairs of the hi hats that you recorded in within this v r .....to me it's a tie i like them equally .....thanks 2 u lots for doing it ..... definitely appreciated it 4 sure 😊
@@ZackZweifelthe only pair of hi hat cymbals that were of the sound edge design was a set of paiste sound formula 14 " inch pair it the first generation of the series of the sound formulas with the circle trademark / emblems and they were uniquely excellent i thought 🙂❤
BOTH. Since I also own both. I use the standard with my "80's hair band" PDP Concept Maple - 8/10/12/14/16 w/ two 22B. And I use the X-celerator with my "John Bonham" PDP Concept Maple Classic 13/16/18 w/ 26B.
I have the standard xsr hi hats and love them, I usually like the sound edge type, I also have a pair of Zildjian mastersound and Paiste alpha metal edge and the regular xsr really hold up against them. I've really gotten accustomed to that hollow sound edge sound.
i have used a 14 inch old school 70's new beat hi hat top with a sabian el sabor 14 inch bottom hi hat cymbal and it worked out just great as the el sabor bottiom cymbal is an equivalant to a zildjian quick beat bottom hi hat cymbal only it's with out the 4 holes drilled in it the sabian flat hat hi hat cymbal actually has 3 drilled holes in it ....
I honestly looked at buying the Red Colorsound cymbals until I finally had a chance to play them first hand. For me they were to thick and heavy sounding for me. I still want them though for my kit just cause of the color hahaha
I went from 14 new beats to 15" Paiste 2002 Soundedge and the difference is freakin night and day - Those Soundedges cut through the mix like nothing, whereas my new beats were getting totally lost. Only thing is they're A LOT of hat. They can definitely over power the kit. And, the closed hat stick sound isn't quite tacky enough (articulate). So, yeah - I'm looking into x-cellerator and other options. Been a zildjian guy forever, but these hats have got me thinking...
The accelerator has the crisper sound by far!!! About time they finally came out with their version?
Grams of top and bottom of xsr hats, thank you
Just got my hands on a scale that can do grams. I'll get those weights to you! Did you want both or which XSR set are you questioning weight on?
Thank you very much, that was very helpful. Question: which would you recommend to play 80's rock, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Guns&Roses, and the like?

Sounds like two fun and totally different bands to be in!
X is brighter!!! I like it! Thanks
For sure much brighter! Nice and crisp. Thanks for watching!

yeah I'm looking forward to adding a second hihat to this kit so I can rock both!
I like both I would do the standard as the X Hats and the X-celerator hats on the high hat stand
I do have another hihat arm... not a bad idea! I have two hihats on 3 of my other kits

you are totally welcome thank you for an answer reply back it's appreciated lots
I use an XSR Rock Hat top and an Accelerator bottom.
oh bet that gets attention! I have an XSR Rock series, much thicker!
Excellent. Thank you!
both sound so damn temptative, Im considering between the x-celerator and paiste colorsound and its being a though choice lol

I'd prefer the Standard
I like both but the x- celerator is a little brighter
Yup! That's why I switched out to it. I like the cut
Standard sounded good alone but with the kit i believe the other one's sounded better.. either works i guess.
Yeah with the kit I definitely like the cut and attack of the xcelerators. I bought a hihat arm and I think I may just add both hahaha

I like the Standard better.
And now tell me why?
@@ZackZweifel well because of it has a nice chick to it and it's articulate.
Oh, but by the way, Paiste Rules!!!!!
hahahaha nice lol Paiste is a great company for sure
