Watering is done by dunking the planter in a bowl of water. A min or 2 should be enough for the dirt to soak it in properly. You can tell by its weight whether it needs more water or not.

You have to dunk it into a container of water for the soil to soak it up.when you see the the plant is heavy that's enough water, it seems like a lot of work but really you just have to water once a week in summer unlike other plants that require watering everyday,this plant doest like too much water it prefers to stay on the drier side. My guess: Unscrew the upper lid, pour water in and let it soak through.
